教研组成立

为了系统总结教学改革的规律,探索激发学生兴趣、提高学习效率的方法,更好地分享教学经验、积累教学成果,在华夏大纽约的教师队伍中,成立了五个教研组: 幼儿教育教研组(马尔罕老师任教研组长); 马立平教研组( 徐云宁老师任组长);美洲华语教研组( 林宇老师任组长);标准中文教研组(陈敏老师任组长); 以及CSL 教研组。每个教研组以提高教学效果为主要目的,定期活动,相互交流,摸索规律。为了提高学生的学习实效,大纽约华夏的教师会形成一个坚强而热情的团队,把 我们的力量和热情集中发挥出来, 成为支持您孩子学好中文的坚实臂膀。欢迎家长联系我们各教研组,为孩子成长提供宝贵的意见。

新加盟教师介绍 

 常秀老师(九年级标准中文),中山大学汉语言文学本科毕业。中国中学语文一级教师 (出国前已经通过高级教师初评),普通话证书二级甲等。在中国担任语文教学十余年,在美国的中文学校任教两年。多篇教学论文和多媒体课件获中国教育学会中 学语文专业委员会一等奖。六次获广东省、市教学比赛大奖。是广东省语文学科带头人。课堂生动有趣,深受学生喜爱和家长认可。

 刘力明老师(AP Chinese),中 山大学学士,美国加州大学伯克利校博士,从事科研工作多年,也研究美国教育系统多年,拥有美国纽约州双科中学教师执照,为纽约某大学的兼职教授,美国莱思 常春藤教育咨询辅导培训公司的总裁,同时还与中国一些教育机构合作为学生提供教育服务。除了在美国发表科研论文以外,刘力明在中国出版了几本涉及电脑业、 汽车业和石油业的中文书,包括《电脑业世纪商战》、《汽车业世纪商战》、《世界富豪争霸石油王国》、《世界名牌汽车争霸战》,最近又和女儿合作即将出版 《我在美国读高中–哈佛女孩刘婷娜成长手册》。

  梁波老师 (奥数), 北京大学数学本科, 芝加哥大学博士, 任职华尔街多年。中学时代多次获得省、全国奥数奖项。

教师培训信息
   罗德岛大学孔子学院将在8月24-26日 举办中文教师培训活动。培训内容包括汉语教材,课堂活动及课堂练习。华夏大纽约分校已有多位中文老师报名参加。
为准备新学年顺利开学,我校将在9月1日举办教师培训与新老师orientation。  会议将于上午9点开始。届时我们将邀请我校经验丰富的马立平教材老师,美洲华语教材老师和标准中文教材老师分享教学经验,共同探讨每种教材的特点及相应 的教学方法。欢迎有兴趣的家长参加。

教师证书考试信息
      据 世界日報7月31日报道,纽约州將于2014年5月开始实施核发教师执照新标准,其他25州也准备改变原來的标准。这对欲担任教职者,将帶來十分重大影 响。我校两位老师于8月18日(星期六)下午参加了在纽约华侨文教服务中心举办的「纽约州崭新的教师执照考试要求」讲座,由纽约州現职教育厅督学罗汉中 女士主讲,获益匪浅。他们将在9月1日举办的HXGNY教师培训会上与大家分享罗汉中女士的讲座内容。
教材订购
我们已根据注册情况,预订了《马立平中文》、《美洲华语》和《标准中文》教材。如果您还在为孩子的选班拿不定主意,欢迎参加到9月1日举办的HXGNY教师培训会,届时您可以参阅比较几种教材,并由教师现场解答疑问。

新设高年级马立平《中文》课介绍

为了满足部分家长的要求,我们将根据学生的注册人数(至少7名),计划增设高年级马立平《中文》班。该班将使用6年级(第16册至第18册)的马立平《中文》教材。 第16册是以趣味对话为课文形式,介绍海外生活常用中文,如海外中文报刊上的常用字、中餐馆和中国城方面的有关知识等。第17和第18册是中文写作训练,分别练习写“状物”和“过程”。欢迎已经注册6年级《标准中文》博览班和7年级《标准中文》班的学生踊跃报名。上学年马立平四年级的学生,成绩优秀,并希望跳过五年级《西游记》内容的,也可以考虑选择这个班。

新设文化课介绍 

We are hiring a professional company to teach the popular Lego Robotics and Video Game design classes. They will offer these classes in sessions: 8 weeks is one session and they will charge $180 per student per session (including all equipments and software). Each class will have 8 to 12 students:

  • For video game design classes, they will provide each student a laptop during the class and GameMaker software. By the end of the class, students take home a CD with the GameMaker software and students’ games.
  • For Lego Robotic class, they will provide all the Legos, motors, laptops in the classes. However, students can not take the robots home.

Computer Video Game Creation: (5th grade and up)

If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. Your imagination is the limit as you use GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. You’ll learn about creating sprites, objects, events and actions. Design a room, make it look the way you want, add objects and play your game. We’ll teach you how to display health, lives, score, splash screens and high score tables. Using drag and drop programming, you’ll be creating exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends.

The students’ games can be played on any PCs.

*Students take home a CD with the GameMaker software and students’ games at the end of class.

LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT Robotics Engineering: (4rd Grade and up)

This exciting class teaches you how to build and program LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT robots. You will use your new skills to meet such challenges as beating your opponent at Sumo or pushing water bottles out of a ring. This class will introduce programming concepts such as repeat loops and if/then statements, and sensor use will also be taught. For the student who has little or no experience with robotics or programming.

*Students will not take the robots home.

WeDo Robots: (1st to 3nd grade)  -Junior Lego Robotic

This class provides the opportunity for the younger children to get an introduction to simple robotics. Build and program dancing birds, drumming monkeys, hungry alligators, roaring lions and flapping birds. Using the LEGO® WeDo robots, students will learn to build models, attach sensors and motors and use a computer to program the model’s actions and behaviors. Students will also learn about simple engineering concepts such as pulleys, belts, gear and levels, while having a blast with their creations.

*Students will not take the robots home.

Parenting Club invitation

We created a parenting club forum on our website under “Build Community” – “ParentingClub” (http://www.hxgny.org/wp/?forum=parenting-club)  .  Feel free to browse and post comments there.
Picnic invitation
Let ‘s get together and enjoy the last breeze of the summer before it is over. We will have a parenting book club picnic on 8/25 3:00PM-6:30PM at Pepsico Sculpture Garden
(http://travel.nytimes.com/2006/09/29/travel/escapes/29trip.html?pagewanted=all).  The park has a landscape with lawns, trees, ponds, and fountains, as well as a garden with a topiary, tended hedges, flower beds and water-lily ponds. It will be a fun trip for the whole family.

We also invite Bonnie Liao, founder of YingHua language School and YingHua International School, major advisor of PCE (NJ Parents Child Club) and PCE chairwoman Huang Min came here to share their parenting experience with us.

It will be a potluck party. Please bring your favorite dish!
