大纽约华夏中文学校第三届数学竞赛隆重开幕 HXGNY 3rd Annual Math Contest

“Never discuss Infinity with a math teacher, you will never hear the end of it.”

Back by popular demand, our 3rd annual math contest will be held on 04/17/2016.

Time to show off your math prowess and be giddy with the realization that your Chinese fluency and math skills have both improved in HXGNY! Math Contest problem sets are in English.

Time : 4/17/2016, 1:15-2:15pm
Location : B 120-124

5 Levels (please choose one according to your regular English weekday school grade):
Math Kangaroo ( Grade 1-2),
Math Kangaroo ( Grade 3-4),
Math Kangaroo ( Grade 5-6),
MathCounts/AMC8 (Grade 6,7,8 only),
SAT Math (Grade 6+)

Announcing the next HXGNY Principal

It is with great pleasure and excitement to announce that the board has concluded the principal search and unanimously voted to appoint Dr Claire He (何清) as HXGNY’s Principal for 2016-2017 school year. The board has also unanimously approved Dr He’s nominations for EVP, Ms Jaclyn Yawen Liu (刘雅文) and Dr Charles Xu (许春川). Congratulations to Claire, Yawen and Charlie! The new team will start from July 1st 2016.

Dr Claire He has volunteered in the school and the community for many years and is currently serving as a EVP. She has made great contributions to school operation and education reform, including last year’s expansion of school hours. Yawen is a co-founder of the school and has been a board member since the school’s inception four year ago. Charlie has served in the admin team since 2014 and is a key member of the Department of Activities. All three of them have demonstrated great integrity, leadership skill and dedication to the school. The board thanks them for their willingness to continue serve the school. The board also thanks current Principal Dr Zuojun Cao and EVP Ms Lulin Xia, for their great services and tremendous contributions to the school. They truly are exemplary volunteers. After retiring from their current posts, Zuojun and Lulin will continue to serve the school in other capacities.

Claire, Yawen and Charlie have discussed their proposal and exciting new ideas with the board and at the All-Parent meeting. To carry out these initiatives, they need more help. Please sign up here if you’d like to join the admin team or to serve as a teacher.

We ask everyone in our school’s community to support the new leadership and the team. Working together, we can bring the school to the next level of excellence.

2016海外华裔青少年“中国寻根之旅”夏令营
——山东·烟台营大纽约华夏中文学校
——宁夏营大纽约华夏中文学校

今年夏天，我校与侨办再度合作，由我校独立组团，我校老师带队，分别参加以下夏令营。

山东·烟台营
活动时间：2016年7月24日—8月5日
活动地点：烟台、济南

宁夏营
活动时间：2016年8月1日—8月12日
活动地点：宁夏，石嘴山市

活动参与对象：出生日期在1998年6月1日至2004年6月1日之间的华夏学生、助教
费用：夏令营期间学生食宿行、参观及保险费用由侨办组织方承担。国际往返交通费用和营期以外的费用请营员家庭自行负担。每名参加夏令营学生缴纳报名费$200.00. 费用缴纳后，如因营员自行取消行程，费用将不返还。

这是我校第一次独立组团参加国内夏令营，让孩子们可以在学校老师的带领下，和熟悉的朋友在一起，与来自各国的华裔同龄人一道，领略中华文化，游览名胜景观。
