华夏大纽约2016-2017学年注册通知 Calendar of Events for 2016-2017 Registration

• Tuesday 5/31 12 noon, Online Registration Opens for Existing Families
  • Information for 2016-2017 school year is on the school website, including class schedule, class description, teacher assignment, and teacher bios.  Please read the information and choose your classes carefully to minimize unnecessary changes and cancellations.
  • More information also posted in Registration Special Edition Newsletter.
  • The system will be very busy during the first hour.  We have taken measures to increase server bandwidth, but it’s still possible for some users to experience delays in the first hour.  If that occurs, please just be patient and retry, and you will get through in due time.
  • PayPal users will enjoy much faster and easier registration. We strongly suggest you get a PayPal account if you don’t have one yet.
• Friday 6/3 10:00am: Online Registration For New Families Opens
  • Please help spread the words among your friends who didn’t attend our school in 2015-2016.
• Sunday 6/5 10:00am -1:00pm Open House; On-Site Registration
  • Classroom visit; Textbook samples; Volunteers and teachers on site to answer your questions
  • On-site registration: If you are technology-challenged, volunteers are available to do it for you.
• Parent Class Registration Will Start in Mid-August
  • Classes begin one week after children’s classes.  Details will be published later.

6/5 华夏大纽约开放日

6/5/2016 星期天上午10:00am-1:00pm 将举行一年一度的学校开放日。开放日当天我们会有多个注册台现场注册答疑，为所有新老家庭服务。不论您是需要现场注册，还是在网络注册后有疑问，我们都可以帮助您。现场注册可以接受支票付款。如支票被退回，将加收$35 的手续费。开放日期间我们安排了内容丰富的课程介绍，教材展示和校舍参观。大家将有机会与教师，学校管理人员，家长及学生交流，并从他们那里听到关于学校的第一手资料， 如语言课和文化课的设置，为孩子和家长，爷爷奶奶安排的活动等等。希望大家广为宣传，介绍各界朋友参加，让更多的家庭了解和走进华夏大纽约。

June 5th HXGNY Open House (On-site Registrations Open to All Families)

Our annual Open House will be held on Sunday 6/5 from 10am-1pm at our White Plains High School facility. We will have multiple registration counters there to assist with all registration-related questions, both to accept new registrations and to troubleshoot online registrations you already submitted. In addition to PayPal (most preferred) and credit card, we also take personal checks at on-site registration. There will be a $35 fee for each bounced check.

There will be extensive displays of posters about our curriculum, teachers and activities. Parents can talk with school leaders, teachers and other parents to get first-hand experience about our school. They can leaf through textbooks, visit classrooms and gym facilities, and experience the community life here. It is a great opportunity to learn more about our school. Please spread the word and encourage anyone interested to attend this event.

6/5 讲座 “情商亲子教育-接纳完整的孩子” 第二部

廖冰(Bonnie Liao)博士主持的情商亲子教育系列讲座，有三个要素：
1. 建立良好的亲子关系
2. 孩子的内驱力
3. 接纳完整的孩子，不追求完美

在2/21的讲座上廖冰博士讲了第3点，“接纳完整的孩子” 。6月5日的讲座将进一步深化这一点，很多家长不意识到这第三要素的重要和对固有观念的挑战，但这正是很多的问题所在，也是中美教育观念最不容易协调的方面。关于子女养育中“完美”与“完整”的定义将是一个家长对自我修炼过程中很多灰色地带的探索和挑战。

廖冰博士将进一步扩展情商教育中“完整的人”的理念，并将其延展到对孩子“多面性”和社会生活“多样性”的认识与接纳。可以说在情商教育的三个要素中，家长最需要独立思考的就是这第三要素，因为很多时候“接纳”比“建立”更需要智慧和个人提升。例如：

1. 怎么引导一个追求完美的孩子?
2. 大池塘里的小鱼，还是小池塘里的大鱼，你会选择做哪个？
3. 为什么有些优秀的孩子得了抑郁症？

廖冰博士简介

• 北京大学物理学士,休斯顿大学物理博士,Rutgers 大学工商管理硕士
• 美银美林大数据分析和模拟高级研究员,曾担任 The Lawrenceville School 私立高中数学教师
• 创建英华语言学校、英华国际学校、“英华在北京”语言与领导能力暑期学院、英华普林斯顿语言与领导能力暑期学院等非营利教育机构
• 担任新泽西州父母子女教育俱乐部总顾问（2002年至今）,所举办的亲子关系主题讲座、家教论坛和交谈会深受家长热烈欢迎及高度好评

6/5 华夏大纽约中文学校 2016 围棋赛 (HXGNY 2016 Go Tournament)

时间 ： Sunday,  6/5，1:00pm – 4:30pm
地点 ： H cafeteria room at lower level

HXGNY 2016 Go Tournament will be held on June 5 at White Plains High school, H cafeteria room at lower level (not the B Seminar room at ground level). A presentation about Go will be given at 1:00pm. Then the game will start at 1:30pm. All Go enthusiasts from our local community are welcome to participate, including both children and adults, and even those who are not registered HXGNY students. Registered players already include a professional level-2 player, which will make the game more fun and exciting. Awards will be presented to the winners of the children’s group at the end. 华夏大纽约中文学校 2016 围棋赛 将于六月五日下午1点举行。地点位于白原市高中底层的H餐厅（不是平时的B讲座大厅）。届时会有资深选手和杰出围棋学生给大家做个小的讲座。比赛1:30开始。欢迎所有围棋爱好者参加，不是华夏大纽约注册学生也可以报名。已经报名的选手中还有一个职业二段，会给我们的围棋赛增色很多。最后会给赢得比赛的少儿选手颁奖。比赛大概4:30pm结束。

Talent Show – HXGNY 星光大道圆满成功! sponsored by A+ Education Group

周日的星光大道才艺展示圆满成功！同学们年龄虽小，但表演水平很高，节目丰富多彩，不光有天籁之音的中文歌曲，活力四射的舞蹈，各种悠扬的管弦乐，更有古色古香的古筝，挑战舌头的绕口令。小演员们落落大方，在舞台上闪烁着明星的光芒。感谢田梁、李伟、 洪滔、毛怡乔、曾爽、许春川、曹作军等志愿者及各位家长对演出的支持。有图有真相。希望下次更多的小朋友来展示才艺！也欢迎家长们加入志愿者的行列。

征聘2016-2017学年成人、学生助教

学生与成人助教（Teacher Assistant) 是华夏大纽约教学队伍的重要部分。 学生可以籍此完成所在学校的社区服务要求，通过帮助老师教学也可以提高中文水平； 家长担当成人助教可以了解子女学习中文，对于有意成为中文老师的家长，担任助教更是获得教学经验的最佳途径。
