Recap – HXGNY Mid-Autumn Festival Party 
上周日,学校在Croton Point State Park成功举办了中秋节聚会。天公作美,新朋旧友,济济一堂,共庆佳节。我们的志愿者花费了大量的时间精力,精心准备了400余人参加的烧烤活动。期间穿插了各班级组织的学生表演,并且组织了很多娱乐活动,如拔河,脸绘等等。整个下午的安排精彩纷呈,家长和孩子们尽情享受秋高气爽的午后闲暇时光。让我们感谢所有志愿者所做出的努力,让我们共同祝愿年年有今日,岁岁有今朝。请大家点击链接欣赏照片。
Parking Lot Update and Security Announcement
Parking Lot – Per WPHS request, please use Parking lot A  only this Sunday due to high school’s upcoming Columbus Festival.Direction to Parking Lot A: use the White Plains High School entrance at Bryant Ave, follow the “Student Parking” sign to the West/Main parking lot.  An entrance to the building will be provided close to Lot A.  This entrance will continue to be open between 9:20 and 9:50 AM for the rest of school year.

For your safety, security team would like to remind all parents:

  • Do not drop off your kid(s) close to the North Street entrance
  • Do not block traffic
  • Pay attention to pedestrians
Registration and School Policy Reminder
This Sunday is our 4th week of school.  According to school policy, there will be no more class transfers. Kids are not allowed to attend the class if you have not cleared the tuition payment.  Please attend the class which students are officially assigned to.

We would like to remind you again that parents are not allowed to sit-in classrooms unless you are parent-on-duty.

Adult Classes/Clubs Online Registration Still Open

Adult classes/clubs started the 3rd week of school (9/22) and online registration is still open. Please register by this Saturday so that the instructor has your name in the official roster.  Here is a list of available adult classes/clubs:

TA Recruiting

We are in need of more teaching assistants. If your child is 14 years or older, please encourage them to sign up for volunteering at HXGNY.  Application Form link here.

2013 HXGNY Young Singer Contest

音乐是灵动的语言,每一位父母都希望孩子们的童年有歌声相伴,让歌声为孩子开创更丰富,更有感染力的生命开端。 为培养孩子们的艺术素养,提升自信和舞台表现力,大纽约华夏中文学校将于10月20日13:00-15:00 举办“快乐童年,唱响未来”小歌手比赛。如果您的孩子有兴趣参赛, 请填妥报名表格,交到学校咨询台或以电子邮件方式发送到赵鹭 lu.marino@gmail.com, 注明为“小歌手比赛”。10月13日18:00报名截止。

Music is a language of the soul. It is every parent’s hope to fill children’s life with love and harmony, to let music reverberate in their childhood. To promote students’ self awareness, artistic and stage performance skills, Huaxia Chinese School at Greater New York will host the 2012 HXGNY Young Singer Competition on 10/20 between 1:00 to 3:00 pm. If your child is interested, please fill out the form and return it to the school information desk or email it tolu.marino@gmail.com with “singer contest” in the subject. Registration deadline is 10/13, 6:00 pm.

2013 HuaXia Chinese School Mind Sports Games

The 2013 HuaXia Chinese School Mind Sports Games will be held at Bridgewater School, NJ on Oct 20. The game is open to all HuaXia Chinese school students and parents, and the registration will be closed by Oct 10 afternoon. Community News: 2013 OCA Student Leadership Award Announcement

Dear Superintendent and Principal:

On behalf of OCA’s Westchester and Hudson Valley (OCA-WHV) Chapter, we are pleased to inform you that OCA-WHV will be sponsoring its 2013 Student Leadership Award. The award intends to honor outstanding high school students who have demonstrated meaningful involvement in serving the Asian American community and/or enthusiasm in learning Asian cultures, and who have a proven record in academic excellence and leadership in making a difference in their community.The award is open to all high school students in their junior and senior years. Up to three awardees will be selected by a committee appointed by the OCA-WHV board. The awardees will be honored at our annual Dynamic Achievers Award Banquet on November 02, 2013, at the Double Tree Hotel in Tarrytown, alongside with four adult outstanding Asian American leaders from the greater New York area.

We would appreciate that you encourage your students to apply for this award, and nominate the deserving applicants for our consideration. The details on the award and the application and selection process are attached here for your information. Community News: WACA Outstanding Student Award 2013-2014 School Year‏

Dear Principals of Westchester Chinese Schools,It is my great pleasure to write to you on behalf of WACA – the Westchester Association of Chinese Americans, to call for your nomination of candidates from your school for “WACA Outstanding Student Leadership and Community Service Award” for 2013 – 2014 school year.

WACA has offered the OSLCS Award to Chinese American students in the Westchester area since 2009. With enthusiastic participation from all local Chinese schools, the award program has served its mission and purpose very successfully. Last year three outstanding students were selected as recipients of the award.

Please find attached two documents, “WACA OSLCS Award Program” and “WACA OSLCS Award Application Form,” which help explain the program’s purpose and procedures in more detail. The deadline for nomination of your school students is October 12, 2013.

I want to thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.  Besides Chinese New Year celebration and other traditional holiday observances, OSLCS Award Program is another core service offered by WACA to the Westchester community. We appreciate your active participation and support. By working together we can prepare our students for the future and make our community a better place to live in.
