家长俱乐部9月10日注册开通,9月21日开课

各位家长，学校为孩子们开设多姿多彩的文化课的同时也为家长们设置了各种各样的俱乐部，有队列／拉丁舞，民族舞，交谊舞，体育舞蹈，瑜珈，中国书法，国画，太极，八卦内功，合唱，棋牌，羽毛球，篮球和爷爷奶奶英语俱乐部。学校网站有各俱乐部的具体时间表。9月10日注册开通，9月21日开课。请有兴趣的家长踊跃报名。

Dear parents, HXGNY offers many colorful culture classes to the students and also opens some interesting clubs to the parents. The clubs are Line/Latin Dance, Folk Dance, Ballroom Dance, Dance Sport, Yoga, Calligraphy, Chinese Traditional Painting, Tai-Chi, Bagua, Chorus, Chess & Poker, Badminton, Basketball and Grandparents English clubs. The club schedule is available on the school website. The registration will be open on September 10th. The first class is on September 21st. Please register as soon as possible if you are interested.

大纽约华夏中文学校完美中国海外华文教师培训

大纽约华夏中文学校完美中国海外华文教师培训由中国华文教育基金会主办，北京四中网校、大纽约华夏中文学校协办的“完美中国”海外华文教师培训活动于08/23在大纽约华夏中文学校举行。 “完美中国”海外华文教师培训由中国华文教育基金会主办，旨在提高海外华文教学水平，目前已在欧洲、亚洲、北美遴选了近十所优秀的中文学校进行定点教师培训。培训团队由北京四中网校副校长高钧带队，大纽约华夏中文学校、南康中文学校等四所中文学校的华文教师参加了培训。高钧分享了副校长在纽约访问中文学校的感受，对纽约当地老师推动华文教育的执着追求和奉献精神表示了敬意，并表示将尽己所能帮助当地中文学校建设。大纽约华夏中文学校向华文教育基金会和北京四中网校赠送了纪念牌，感谢培训项目对社区华文教师的助益。培训团队成员的李岩老师为纽约本地老师讲授了国际汉语课堂教学方法与技巧，中国汉语水平考试（HSK）介绍两门课程。李岩的授课生动活泼，内容充实，兼备教学理论和课堂实践，深受在场老师们欢迎。

子女教育专题野餐会综述
On August 16, five volunteer moms from New Jersey Parent Education Club came to HXGNY parenting seminar to share their wisdom on how to raise successful kids.

With 200+ eager audience, the panel began by defining “success”, – a kid that grows up willing to “GIVE” and capable of being “THANKFUL”, 既懂得付出，又知道感恩。From there each mom shared their own struggle, frustration, to realization and enlightenment. They made a compelling argument of being the collaborative & authoritative Dolphin parent, not a controlling & authoritarian Tiger Mom, or an indulging & permissive Jellyfish Mom. All the speakers shared a common parenting philosophy: to focus on the long-term goal of raising our children to become healthy, well-balanced, independent yet connected thus happy adults, and not on short-term goals of high test scores and college admissions..

文化课变更通知

为充实授课内容，满足更多家长需求，原Mathcounts Club更改为初中竞赛数学，面向6-8年级学生，内容将由MathCount扩展为AMC8, MathCounts, Math Kangaroo, etc 上课时间改为9：30am – 10：30am。课程将由魏景东老师执教。魏老师对各类数学竞赛做过深入研究，他的孩子在全美数学竞赛中名列前茅。我们衷心感谢魏老师能够将自己研究数学竞赛的心得和教授子女的经验与更多华夏家庭共享。欢迎感兴趣的学生家长尽快注册。

Culture Class Update Notice

To extend the coverage of our math education and to better meet parents’ need, we restructured the Mathcounts Club to Middle School Competition Math, target to 6-8th graders. Class hour 9:30am -10:30am. The class will cover AMC8, MathCounts, MathKangaroo, etc. Dr. Wei Jingdong will be the teacher. Dr. Wei has spent years studying different math competitions in America. Benefited from his knowledge and expertise in the field, his son is among the top award winners in US math competitions. We sincerely thank Dr. Wei for volunteering his time to share his experience and knowledge with more Huaxia Families. Please enroll as soon as possible if your child is interested.

八月二十三日星期六下午，我校将举办全校教师现场教学培训，对所有社区家庭开放，欢迎有兴趣的家长参加，请电邮xujunhxgny@gmail.com。我校在七月加入由中国华文教育基金会主办，北京四中网校承办的“完美中国”海外华文教师培训项目，由北京四中网校为我校教师提供定点培训。继七月二十五日首次举行远程培训后，现场培训项目随之启动。在八月二十三日下午的培训中，培训团队将来到我校进行现场授课并与听众互动。以下为培训流程：

第一节课（50分钟）课堂管理技巧与方法

国际汉语课堂教学方法与技巧课程内容简介

本课主要介绍针对美国本土中小学生的汉语课堂教学方法与技巧，主要包括以下三项内容：1. 第一堂课的作用；2. 教师的角色；3. 课堂内容的合理安排。通过分享汉语课堂教学中的成功案例和个人心得，解答教师们在汉语课堂教学中的疑惑，帮助教师更有效、更有趣地安排一堂汉语课，使汉语课堂张弛有度、生动有趣。

第二节课（50分钟）中国汉语水平考试（HSK）介绍

中国汉语水平考试是为测试母语非汉语者（包括外国人、华侨）的汉语水平而设立的国家级标准化考试。华夏中文学校将HSK-4设为华夏系统学生的毕业考。本课将介绍HSK 1~5级的题型，对4~5级的教学技巧和方法进行着重讲解。通过介绍，使授课老师了解HSK的考试相关内容，如：题型、题目特点、评分标准及讲解注意事项。

主讲教师简介

李岩：毕业于北京语言大学对外汉语系。自2007年起，一直从事国际汉语教学工作，有丰富的汉语教学经验。于2007~2008受聘于泰国BURAPHA大学（东方大学）中文系进行汉语教学，主要讲授中级口语、中级综合课、高级商务汉语及汉语教学法等课程，受到师生一致好评，提出连聘要求。 2008~2013 受聘于中国民航管理干部学院国际汉语交流部，进行汉语教学，主要负责汉语综合课、口语课及HSK5、6级的讲授，由于突出的课堂管理能力及教学能力，连续五年被学校评为“优秀班主任”，及“最具人气教师”奖。2013年至今，受聘于国家开放大学对外汉语教学中心，主要负责海外汉语教材及课件的研究与编写。

中国华文教育基金会珠心算武汉培训班日程安排和报名表

各位老师和家长，由中国华文教育基金会负责招生和主办的2014珠心算培训班将于10月16日至31日在湖北省武汉市举办。珠心算是一门比较新的优秀中华文化，也是去年被联合国确定的世界非物质文化遗产。本届培训班将由两次获得前任国家主席胡锦涛授予二等功的中国最顶级的珠心算教授王卫达执教。培训班学员国际旅费自理，落地后的费用由华文教育基金会全部负责。希望感兴趣的老师和家长踊跃报名。报名时间8月底结束，请直接将报名表发给何芳或电邮咨询fanghe2012@gmail.com。具体培训班课程安排及报名表请点一下链接。

HXGNY Parenting Club Event: Speakers & Picnic

华夏大纽约父母子女教育俱乐部定于8月16日星期六下午4:00 – 7:00举行夏季子女教育专题野餐会, 每家自带晚饭和折叠椅。野餐会期间将有特邀嘉宾座谈. 地点为 Scout Field Park, 37 Wayside Lane, Scarsdale NY.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience for our planning purpose before August 12th. Greatly appreciate it!

Please note that there is a playground at the field, but there are no babysitters there. If your child needs to be watched, please make your own arrangement.

If parking is full at the Girl Scout field, please go to the adjacent Scarsdale High School parking lot which can accommodate a lot more cars, and walk back to the Girl Scout House. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please bring your own chairs/picnic blankets, and picnic food and drink for your family. We will focus on the speaker and productive parenting discussions! Please make sure your family including children can respect the speakers during the panel discussion section. If you need to make separate child care arrangement (e.g. have someone watch the kids in the nearby playground), please plan ahead.

嘉宾简历：

刘向群，毕业于上海交大。1992年像许多寻梦者一样留学美国, 硕士毕业后，供职于电信公司，任资深网络系统工程师。2003年，开始兼职创业，才发现自己“高分低能”的传统知识分子特色。一切都从头学。在个人成长中，逐渐悟出什么是“成才” 的性格。把自己从 “虎妈” 放松下来， outsource 孩子的教育，找老师，找学校，找朋友。关注孩子的性格多于学业，品格多于技艺，见识多于上课。鉴于自己中年才悟到成长的奥秘，所以能咬紧牙关等待孩子开窍。 3个女儿普普通通，都品格良好，能关心人，能和成人通畅的沟通，能知道自己要什么，都在成长。在爸爸妈妈眼里看着很好：-）还和孩子一起开窍，成长。

刘轶敏是父母子女教育俱乐部的现任主席。1998年，她来到美国留学。在纽约市工作10多年。首先在德勤会计师事务所，之后在花旗集团兼并与收购（M＆A）顾问团队。所有她过去的工作中，她最爱的是一个妈妈的工作。她认为，孩子在一个家庭中是最宝贵的资产。把我们的时间，精力和心放在最宝贵的财富上是最明智的选择。和孩子们相处，”quality time”重要， “quantity of time”也很重要

黄敏，毕业于华南理工大学建筑结构专业，来美后在City College of New York就读电脑信息专业，拿到硕士学位。现在一所健康保险公司从事IT行业。业余时间热衷于新泽西州父母子女教育俱乐部的志愿者工作。基于自已走过一段＂虎妈＂弯路的切身体会，逐渐认识到与孩子建立彼此相互尊重，相互理解的亲子关系，乃是子女教育最基本的基础。以为父母对孩子的最大责任是教孩子做人，教孩子学会生活。坚信，给孩子一份无条件的爱，一个赏识的笑容，一个成长的空间，孩子就会给我们一份惊喜。父母不能给孩子他们自己没有的东西，说到底，子女教育的根本是父母本人对人生价值观和生活追求的折射，所以不要把过多的时间和精力都花在孩子身上，而尽该更重视自我修炼和提升，与孩子起成长。静下心，放慢节奏，去心去感受孩子, 去享受生活。

徐蕾，毕业于西安交大，1999年来美，现于纽约某银行IT部门任Architect。大女儿8岁，小女儿4岁。4年前和sensitive又strong-will 的大女儿频频冲突之际，偶遇PCE。在跟随PCE的岁月里，接触到了西方人性化的教育理念，逐渐辨析自己内心深藏的虎性。在和孩子的互动中，每每被孩子对父母无条件的爱和接纳感动，为孩子的好奇心，想象力，光鲜的生命力折服，内心深处最初的美好被渐渐唤醒。慢慢地认识到，要改变孩子，唯一能做的事情就是改变自己，提高自己，完善自己。正在以孩子的成长为契机，努力和孩子一起感悟和进步，并享受其中无穷的乐趣。育儿即是育己，成长就是成功。

大纽约华夏中文学校加入“完美中国”海外华文教师远程培训项目

2014年7月25日，由中国华文教育基金会主办，北京四中网校、大纽约华夏中文学校协办、完美（中国）有限公司赞助的“完美中国”海外华文教师远程培训开课仪式在北京四中网校和大纽约华夏中文学校同步举行。中国华文教育基金会李晓梅主任、北京四中网校副校长高钧先生、大纽约华夏中文学校董事长胡大鹏先生、校长曹作军先生、以及大纽约华夏中文学校部分华文教师参加了当天的开课仪式。

在开课仪式上,中国华文基金会李晓梅主任首先致辞并介绍培训项目。李主任对大纽约华夏中文学校的加入表示欢迎，她还就培训项目进展、课程内容等做了简介。她指出学历教育培训、远程师资培训、师资短期培训、学校管理培训是基金会师资培训的重要方面，欢迎大纽约华夏中文学校师生积极参与基金会的各项活动。

北京四中网校副校长高钧在开课仪式上致辞。他谈到：面向海外的华文教师远程培训是一项非常重要、非常有意义的工作，“让更多的孩子得到更好的教育”是北京四中网校的一贯宗旨，对海外华文老师进行培训，能让海外更多的孩子从中受益。这对于中国华文教育基金会、北京四中网校，以及参与培训的海外华文老师来说，是一种共赢的局面。

大纽约华夏中文学校董事长胡大鹏先生也在开课仪式上致辞。胡董事长首先感谢中国华文教育基金会、北京四中网校给予的这次机会，胡董事长介绍到：大纽约华夏中文学校是一所朝气蓬勃、快速成长的华校， 2013年，学校招生规模增长40%，学校秉承的华文教育本土化与多样化的理念受到了学生和家长的热烈欢迎，但是同时也给老师的教学带来了巨大的挑战，正是这样的背景，更加突显了此次远程师资培训的意义,相信通过与北京四中网校的交流和学习，老师们在授课内容、课堂组织、教学管理方面，一定能够有所提升。

大纽约华夏中文学校资深教师、四中校友黄岳女士在开课仪式上特别感谢中国华文教育基金会，愿意花这么大的力气、投入这么大的资金，让海外的孩子也能够领略四中名师的风采，能够体会到中文的美。作为四中校友、同时也是大纽约的老师，黄岳女士衷心预祝培训成功。

当天的开课仪式上，北京四中李頔老师为华夏中文学校华文教师讲授了《课堂管理与领导力》课程，涵盖了海外华文教学难点、学习动力培养、不同年龄学生心智发育、学习习惯特点、游戏教学法等等方面，课后就具体问题与听课老师进行了讨论交流。老师们一致认为讲课的李頔老师水平很高，老师们获益不浅。衷心感谢华文教育基金会和四中网校提供了这个学习平台。

The registration for school year 2014-2015 is a big success. As the admin team busily prepares for school opening in a month, we encourage any undecided families or new families to register as soon as possible.

For registration:

For payment:
Please pay by clicking on the Pay by Paypal button. It will allow you to pay by paypal, or pay by credit card. Please do NOT send checks. For any registered but not paid families, please submit your payment as soon as possible. The registration team will soon start to allocate for waiting list students, as well as order text books for paid students. Any unpaid students could lose their class placement or not get textbooks on the school opening day.

子女教育专题野餐会

如果能重来一次,我会如何教育我的孩子？

孩子的成长只有一次, 为人父母也只要一次机会。孩子在带给我们的快乐的同时, 也带给了无数的挑战。您会对孩子“怎么还不开窍”感到焦虑吗？您会对孩子的“不听话”感到束手无策吗？您在孩子教育的过程中有哪些疑问和困惑？您想听听其他家长在发现孩子天赋,兴趣, 因势利导方面的经验分享吗？您想与其他家长一起共同探索有效的沟通方式,建立良好的亲子关系的方法吗? 我们从其它家长所走过的弯路中有何借鉴？我们邀请到几位有经验的家长来与大家分享他们养育孩子十几年来的经验与教训。他们各自有不同的人生经历，在教育孩子方面，也有迥异的方法和侧重点。

该晚会由中美友好协会主办，中国中央歌剧院担刚，当地小朋友参与。目的是庆祝中美建交35周年。其中表演节目之一《西游记访美团》由苏红老师指导，由大纽约华夏中文学校的学生刘吉麟, 刁大卫, 陶子明, 钱加轩, 任钧也, 杨礼涵出演, 六位学生的家长集体创作导演, 陈海等管理团队的志愿者们为成功举办这次活动付出辛苦努力。

Dear HXGNY families:

Our early registration discount of $50 per student is set to expire on July 6 (this coming Sunday). Any students (i) who have not registered or (ii) who registered but not yet paid will not be able to enjoy the discount after that date. We highly encourage you to register / pay over the next 5 days to take advantage of this benefit.

Key registration highlights are:

Early Registration Discount Period – 5/28/14 through 7/6/14
Class Placement – based on FULL tuition payment date
Payment Priority – PayPal payment strongly preferred. Credit card payment may cause delay linking to school system. No check accepted
Waiting List – For students that do not get into their desired class, please email hxgny-waitinglist@googlegroups.com. Please follow instructions in the Registration Policy on how to submit such requests.
Late Fee – $50 late fee will be applied to any family account with account balance or new registration starting 9/8/14
Transfer – Each student is allowed one free transfer for each of language and culture class per school year. Each additional transfer will be subject to a $20 fee per transfer. No transfer allowed after9/21/14
No student can audit class post 9/14/14
Parent-on-Duty – All parents need to fulfill POD responsibilities

Invitation to the Westchester Summer Outing by WACA

WACA is organizing the Westchester Summer Outing onJuly 12, 2014 at Yosemite Park in Greenburgh, NY. We would like to invite you all to join us and enjoy a fun day together.

For each sponsor organization of the 2014 New Year Festival, WACA will provide a number of tickets for the volunteers for the each organization as a token of our appreciation.

Chinese American Culture Camp

Dear Hua Xia Chinese school families,

Thirty-two (32) middle school students are coming to visit Westport, CT area between July 16th and July 24th
(7/16-7/24). The non-profit organization, Spiral International (spiralinternational.org) is bringing the students here to experience American culture and practice their English through exploring local sites such as the Earthplace Natural Museum, Wakeman Farm, Maritime Aquarium, Westport Arts Center, Yale University, etc. We hope to have local children of similar age join the camp activities as student ambassadors to promote culture and language exchange. We are also looking for good local families to share their homes, lifestyles, and values with these students. This program dedicates itself to building pathways to international friendship and empowering people to become responsible global citizens.
