本周日毕业嘉奖典礼（Graduation and Award Ceremony This Sunday）:

大纽约华夏中文学校2013年毕业嘉奖典礼将于六月十六日上午十点在White Plains High School 大礼堂举行。学生们将按指定的班级位置入座。

我们祝贺毕业班学生们取得的优异成绩，祝愿他们在新的学中文的旅程中不断进步。我们感谢敬业的老师们对孩子们的辛勤栽培。我们表彰志愿者们对学校的无私奉献。我们欢庆这一年来孩子们的成长和学校社区的壮大。大家一起来参加这次庆祝的盛会吧！

The 2013 Hua Xia Greater New York Chinese School Graduation and Award Ceremony will be held on Sunday June 16th, 2013, from 10am to 12pm at White Plains High School in the auditorium. Students will sit with their class and teachers in the designated sitting area during the ceremony.

We celebrate our graduates’ achievements and wish them the best on their new journey in learning Chinese. We give thanks to all our dedicated teachers for their hard work and care of our children. We show our appreciation for all the volunteers for their tireless effort and tremendous contributions to our school. Above all, we celebrate the growth of our children and our school community. Please join the celebration!

Huaxia Greater New York Track & Field Games This Sunday
时间(Time): Sunday June 16, 2013, 1:00pm-3:30pm,

华夏大纽约中文学校田径运动会将于6月16号星期日于毕业典礼结束后马上开始。凡是华夏大纽约中文学校在校学生均可参加, 一经报名将可参加各自年龄组的所有比赛项目。参赛者可以参加如下项目：Long Jump, 50m dash, 100m dash, 200m dash (10 years or older),
4X100m relay race (10 years or older), Jump rope (5-9 years), Sandbag throw (5-9 years, kid-parent pair), Flying Discus throw, Water ball throw.

请点击这里填写报名表, 没有报名的可以现场注册。请参赛者遵守组委会的比赛时间和规则。愿意当义务裁判的家长可以填表，在年龄选项里选’Volunteer’, 或Email Dr. Dachun Yao, dachun927@gmail.com. 欢迎广大家长积极报名做运动会义务裁判。学校于12:00pm 在Cafeteria提供午餐，每份5.00元, Volunteer 免费。参赛者必须在12:40pm到田径场提前报到，1：00pm 比赛正式开始。欢迎大家积极参与。

HXGNY Track & Field Sports will take place on Sunday 6/16 at the track field ground in White Plains High School right after the graduation ceremony. All the students in HXGNY can participate in this game. The registrant is eligible for all the events in his or her age group.

The available games are: Long Jump, 50m dash, 100m dash, 200m dash (10 years or older), 4X100m relay race (10 years or older), Jump rope (5-9 years), Sandbag throw (5-9 years, kid-parent pair), Flying Discus throw, Water ball throw.

Please click here for the registration, we accept on site registration. All the participants should follow the instructions and be there on time. We need many referees and coordinators. Please sign up as volunteers in the registration form or contact Dr. Dachun Yao by e-mail:dachun927@gmail.com. Lunch will be provided at Cafeteria startingfrom 12:00pm, $5.00 each, volunteer is free. All the participants should arrive at the track field and sign in by 12:40pm, the matches will start from 1:00pm sharp. We are looking forward to seeing all of you.

The Registration Desk will be setup this Sunday from 10AM – 12:00PM in H-Room to help families to register for 2013-2014 school year. We will also answer your questions on class selections. Different textbooks will also be displayed in H-room.

Recap: 上周日大纽约华夏围棋博览会
(Greater New York HuaXia GO EXPO Last Sunday):

六月九日下午，备受欢迎的围棋老师，唐洁女士(美东围棋赛5段冠军) 在华夏大纽约中文学校成功举办了大纽约华夏围棋博览会。唐洁老师在华夏执教多年，除了棋艺精湛，教学经验丰富外，对围棋所蕴涵的哲学思想也有很深的研究。此次活动由唐洁老师主持，美东地区的大批围棋爱好者慕名而来。活动期间，唐洁老师与大家分享了她多年来的执教经验和心得，总结为“人生如棋，棋如人生”。来自波士顿微软公司的孙纯博士给大家讲授了有关计算机围棋的奥妙，另外，围棋电影“The Surrounding Game”的导演Will Lockhart 和 Cole Davis Pruitt先生也应邀出席。本次活动还包括了针对孩子们的丰富多彩的娱乐活动，对初学者的围棋普及课程，以及围棋高手的即兴比赛表演等。所有围棋爱好者，不论老少，济济一堂欢庆了这次盛会。华夏大纽约中文学校在致力于中文教学的同时，也特别注重为弘扬中国传统文化，推动社区围棋活动而努力, 我们期待大家更多的参与。请点击这里查看照片。波士顿华人双语网报道了这次活动。

Last Sunday (06/09/13) afternoon, our beloved GO teacher Ms. Jie Tang (US North East GO tournament 5D Champion) hosted the Greater New York GO EXPO in Huaxia Chinese School Greater New York (HXGNY) with great success. Ms. Jie Tang is not only an experienced GO teacher and an excellent GO player, she also has a very insightful understanding of the GO wisdom. In this event, Ms. Jie Tang shared with us her teaching experience and her understanding of GO philosophy, which is summarized as “Life is Go as GO is life”. Also, a software engineer from Microsoft Inc, Dr. Chun Sun from Boston had a short teaching session titled as “A Brief Introduction to Computer Go”. In addition, the film directors for “The Surrounding Game”, Mr. Will Lockhart and Mr. Cole Davis Pruitt, discussed the movie with the audiences. The event also included the recreational GO activities for children, a mini class of “GO for dummies” along with professional GO masters’ impromptu performance. Many avid GO fans from around the East Coast visited HXGNY and participated in this event. All GO lovers, adults and children, enjoyed the free admission to this event and had a lot of fun. As the largest Chinese school in the area, HXGNY is not only dedicated to provide the best Chinese education, but also strives to build local Chinese community. Keep up Chinese in the Summer (暑假期间，别忘学中文!):

Last day of school! Fun summer camps are waiting for you. Go relax at local beaches or travel around the world. But don’t leave your Chinese behind wherever you go. If you are a MLP student there is a booklet for summer homework. How handy! If you are MZHY student why don’t you start a reading log for Chinese books including your old Chinese textbooks. There are fun websites such as
http://www.ewritechinese.com/contestFAQ/ where you can register and enter a Chinese reading contest. When we all come back in the fall show off your achievement in Chinese reading and you will be surprisingly rewarded!

各位家长，本学年即将结束，孩子们就要开始丰富多彩的暑期生活。谢谢家长和孩子们的共同努力，孩子们的中文水平都有显著提高。也在此谢谢大家在本学年对我们工作的鼎力支持。请马立平班的家长督促孩子们完成暑假作业，美洲华语班的同学可以鼓励他们建立一个阅读目录记载他们暑假阅读的中文书籍（包括旧中文课本）。如果感兴趣，可以注册各种中文学习网站参与学习，比如注册http://www.ewritechinese.com/contestFAQ/网站可以参加中文阅读比赛。老师会在下学年的成绩里给暑假作业成绩突出的同学加分。

Recently, a couple Chinese schools in the vicinity all emailed our parents their registration notice and school advertisement. The format similarity between these emails, albeit from different schools, caused some confusion among some parents. Please note that all emails from Huaxia Chinese School at Greater New York has our school banner at the top of the email body. 杨志耕	八年级美洲华语/标准中文	华夏资深教师，十六年教龄。长期在华夏教授八年级学生。2011-2012年任原华夏九年级博览班教师。二十多人的毕业班在当年的华夏总校HSK 四级毕业考试中获得优异成绩。曾在 Croton High School 教授中文。杨老师上课诙谐灵活，很能吸引年轻人。他认为让孩子愿意学是最重要的。
马悦	学前班及马立平中文	桥港大学教育学硕士。2010年毕业于哈尔滨师范大学对外汉语专业，在校期间曾担任对外汉语教师和留学生汉语辅导。自2012年1月起在美康中文学校担任中文教师，现在康州一所preschool做中文老师。性格外向开朗，喜欢并善于和小朋友交流，热爱中文教育工作。
刘培珺	三年级马立平	Certified 中文老师，八年美国中文教学经验，善于激发学生学习中文的兴趣。

李文(Wen Li)	声乐	瑞典皇家歌剧院男中音歌唱家（Baritone Soloist, Swedish Royal Opera House），先后在瑞士，英国，德国，西班牙，芬兰，挪威，丹麦等国举办音乐会。
杨愉生（Lisa Yang）	钢琴	中国国家铜管乐队著名钢琴演奏家（Piano Soloist, China National Brass Band），曾为来中国的各国国家元首演奏。2010年与李文一起，在中国北京，上海，济南等地举办了六场音乐会。
邓岳	小提琴	小提琴演奏家。毕业于中央音乐学院弦乐系，并留校任教。公派Australia留学回国任教于中央音乐学院附中专职小提琴教育。后曾任教于日本铃木音乐学校东京分校， Long Island Teaching School，和Westchester Music School。80年代末期她将日本天才教育和Suzuki 教学法首次引入中国。同时，邓老师还有丰富的小提琴表演经验，曾获1981年澳大利亚塔斯马尼亚州冬季小提琴比赛第二名。目前，专职教授Private Violin Lessons.
陈成钧	古典音乐赏析	纽约市哥伦比亚大学应用物理与应用数学系资深研究员、兼任教授。从小学起，在上海学钢琴和西方古典音乐。初中时曾跟随著名作曲家程懋筠学习作曲。高中时曾是上海音乐协会创作组成员，并在上海工人文化宫担任合唱团钢琴伴奏。在北京大学上学时曾是北大学生会管弦乐队队长及指挥。2004-07 在汉堡大学任访问教授时曾跟随德国钢琴家 Irinina Gerassimez进修钢琴。
Chris-topher Potts	Chess	Mr. Potts has taught chess to kids and adults since 1992. He currently leads programs at the Grumman Hill Montessori School in Wilton, at the Wilton and Norwalk libraries, and, through the National Scholastic Chess Foundation, he heads a program at Redding Elementary School. He has taught more than five hundred students in groups and privately. He have been an active a tournament player for nearly forty years, has been a US Chess Federation certified tournament director for more than a decade, and has also served on the board of the Connecticut State Chess Association.

2013-2014 New Course Offerings:

We are pleased to announce new course offerings at the 12:30-1:30 time slot, so that students can register for two culture classes without time conflict. Extra Tuition will be charged for the 12:30pm-1:30pm slot clubs based on the enrollment.

1. Performance Art Club 12:30pm -1:30pm. Tuition extra (TBA).

2. Chess Tournament Club 12:30pm -1:30pm. Tuition extra (TBA).

3. Math Counts Club 12:30pm-1:30pm. Tuition extra (TBA)

In addition, please note that we are now offering two AP Chinese classes:

1. AP Chinese Foundation for G7 & Up (9:30am-10:30am)

2. AP Chinese for those having completed G9 (10:30am-12:30pm)

Other Ivy track courses now open to register:

1. SAT Subject Math/Physics and PSAT (9:30am-10:30am)

2. AP Physics (9:30-12:30) (Tuition $600)

小提琴教育家。毕业于中央音乐学院弦乐系，并留校任教。她以各方面优秀的成绩被公派Australia留学, 曾获1981年澳大利亚塔斯马尼亚州冬季小提琴比赛第二名。回国任教于中央音乐学院附中专职小提琴教育。后曾任教于日本Suziki音乐学校东京分校，在少有的外籍教师中得到铃木本人的肯定。80年代初期还曾与现任中央音乐学院附中校长赵薇将日本天才教育和Suzuki 的部分教学法首次引入中国并促进了当年的官方文化交流。九一年来美之后一直从事于小提琴教育，教学得到好评！学生们优秀、自信，多位学生考入知名音乐学校。目前，专职教授Private License 小提琴。
