(美东围棋赛5段冠军) 将于华夏大纽约中文学校举办大纽约华夏围棋博览会。唐洁老师在华夏执教多年，除了棋艺精湛，教学经验丰富外，对围棋所蕴涵的哲学思想也有很深的研究。此次活动由唐洁老师主持，美东地区的大批围棋爱好者将慕名而来。活动期间，唐洁老师将与大家分享多年来的执教经验和心得，总结为“人生如棋，棋如人生”。来自波士顿微软公司的孙纯博士将给大家讲授有关计算机围棋的奥妙，另外，围棋电影“The Surrounding Game”的导演Will Lockhart 和 Cole Davis Pruitt先生也将应邀出席。本次活动还包括针对孩子们的丰富多彩的娱乐活动，对初学者的围棋普及课程，以及围棋高手的即兴比赛表演等。所有围棋爱好者，不论老少，都可免费参与，相信此次活动定能带来很多惊喜，希望大家不要错过这次盛会。详情请点击这里。

(US North East GO tournament 5D Champion) will hold this Greater New York GO EXPO in Huaxia Chinese School Greater New York (HXGNY) on June 9，2013. Ms. Jie Tang is not only an experienced GO teacher and an excellent GO player, she also has a very insightful understanding of the GO wisdom. In this upcoming event, Ms. Jie Tang will share with us her teaching experience and her understanding of GO philosophy, which is summarized as “Life is Go as GO is life”. Also, a software engineer from Microsoft Inc, Dr. Chun Sun from Boston will have a short teaching session titled as “A Brief Introduction to Computer Go”. In addition, the film directors for “The Surrounding Game”, Mr. Will Lockhart and Mr. Cole Davis Pruitt, will be invited to speak and to discuss the movie with the audiences. The event also includes the recreational GO activities for children, a mini class of “GO for dummies” along with professional GO masters’ impromptu performance. Many avid GO fans from around the East Coast will visit HXGNY and participate in this event. All GO lovers, adults and children, will enjoy the free admission to this event. Registration Help Available This Sunday from 10AM-12:30PM in H-Room:

The Registration Desk will be setup this Sunday from 10AM – 12:30PM in H-Room to help families to register for 2013-2014 school year. We will also answer your questions on class selections. Different textbooks will also be displayed in H-room.

HXGNY Online Class Registration for 2013-2014 School Year Is Open:

The following are answers to some of the frequently asked registration questions:

1. What if I forget my password?
Please go to our on-line registration site http://reg.hxgny.org and use your email to retrieve your password. Click on “Forget Password” and your password will be sent to you through email within minutes.

2. How do I pay for the tuition?
We highly recommend everyone to pay through either PayPal or credit card. Please click “Check out with PayPal” button after you register. It will give you a choice to pay either through your Paypal account or using a credit card if you don’t have a PayPal account. You will receive an email confirmation from PayPal within several hours of submitting your payment.

If you have to send a check, please make the check payable to “HXGNY” and send to the following address: HXGNY, P.O. Box 583, Purchase, NY 10573. Please note that it will take us approximately 2 weeks to register the check in the system. Any bounced checks will also be charged with a $35 fee.

3. How do I pay online if I don’t have a PayPal account?
You can still click “Checkout with Paypal” and choose “Don’t have a PayPal account?”, then input your credit information there.

Originated in China, glorified as a reflection of ancient oriental wisdom, Go constitutes an important component of traditional Chinese culture. It embodies the ancient Chinese ingenuity, creativity and imagination. Textbook recycling:

If you do not keep the textbooks your children used in the past year, we encourage you to drop it off at the registration desk. The school will offer the recycled books to parents of younger children who may find some use of them.

Gym News

Both Gyms will be available this Sunday.

Per WPHS request, please do not keep any gym exit doors open throughout school sessions. Use only the door designated for HXGNY for entrance.

亲爱的各位家长：

2013-2014年华夏大纽约管理团队正式成立

我们在此高兴地向大家报告，2013-2014年华夏大纽约管理团队正式成立了。与往年相比，今年的团队在组织结构上做出了重大革新，凸显了稳中求进、专业高效的特点。

1．校委会、家长会的双头领导结构在华夏行之多年，随着学校功能的日趋复杂，这种并行结构在资源调度、工作效率上造成的问题日益明显。为提高效能，在新的一年里，我们将两个机构合二为一，统一管理，按照功能职责分为教育、文体活动、学生事务、宣传交流、安全卫生、物流后勤、财务、技术支持八个部门，同时根据不同阶段的主要工作随时成立临时性的跨部门任务小组。这样以校长为核心，以功能部门为经，任务小组为纬，辅以董事会、教育委员会、家长代表，新的团队力量强大，部门间职责明确又相互配合，组织架构兼备高效性与灵活性。

2．在新的一年里，教育、文体活动、宣传交流部门的力量进一步加强。凭借更多的人力资源，我们将在过去一年打下的坚实基础上，为孩子们、家长们提供更多更好的教育内容和社区活动。

3．新团队开始组建以来，我们得到了家长们的热烈支持，许多家长主动报名志愿为学校服务。新团队里，有热情有能力的新成员超过总数的40%. 我们在此感谢所有积极参与的家长。华夏大纽约是服务于全体家长的公益学校，志愿者精神是学校的魂魄。我们希望这种精神能继续发扬光大，全校参与，全民办校，让华夏大纽约不但成为最好的中文教育机构，最佳的华人心灵家园，也成为社区华人志愿者精神的丰碑。

HXGNY Online Class Registration for 2013-2014 School Year Is Open:

Due to registration system limitation, only first student’s $50 discount will be applied directly. We will manually apply $50 discounts for each additional student after you register. Please email hxgnyadmin@googlegroups.com or come to our Open House registration desk this Sunday. Huaxia operations team will make these adjustments within 2 days upon receipt of your request. Please include your registration # and family ID when you email for such request. We advice that you make your payment AFTER such adjustment is made.

Paypal payment announcement

The Pay-pal payment option is now operational in our registration system. Through Paypal system, you can either use your Paypal account, or any major credit card for the payment. We highly recommend everyone to use the online payment system to pay the tuition as soon as you register. This is the most efficient and accurate payment method for the school to receive payment. And such accurate and prompt receipt can further ensure your children’s placement into classes.

Education Seminar This Sunday: Learning Chinese with Animation by Ed Young,Renowned Chinese American Writer and Illustrator
Date/Time: June 2nd, 10:45am-12:00pm Location: CafeteriaThis Sunday, we will have a seminar on Learning Chinese with Animation. It will be presented by Ed Young, a renowned Chinese American Writer and Illustrator. Over the years in the U.S.A, he has been playing with animation in teaching the Chinese language to native Chinese as well as foreign students, much like some virtual programs one finds on line these days. He will talk about how that could be expanded as a system. He was raised by his American educated father and a very artistic mother. To shelter his growing family from World War II, his engineer father built a grand house in the safest area, near where the embassies were in Shanghai. It was in this house where Ed Young’s imagination and artistic interest were nurtured. His book “The House Baba Built: an Artist’s Childhood in China” is a poignant memoir based on his childhood spent in this house.
