节目遴选

春节联欢会的所有参选节目将于2月1日（本周日）进行遴选，时间从9:30-13:30，具体时间请询问各班级老师。地点在教师餐厅, 会有标识指示。由于距离教室较远，请低年级的家长配合老师引导学生入场，按时完成。谢谢！

Program Screening
The program screening for the Chinese New Year Gala will be held on February 1st ( the coming Sunday) from 9: 30-13 : 30 . Pleas check with teacher for the specific time slot of your kid’s  performance.  The venue is at the Faculty Cafeteria in Building B and we will put out signs for direction. Since it is a bit far between the Cafeteria and classrooms, please assist your teacher to guide the young children to go there on time. Thanks!

Gala Ticket:

Educational Seminar Recap

On 1/25, Dr. David Rosenthal gave a successful parenting seminar to share his wisdom on common concerns parents have. This seminar focused on a big source of stress between kids and parents – kids playing video games.
Dr. Rosenthal introduced the idea that video games provide several ingredients that are good for child development, but that parents should supervise the amount of screen time.  He provided a summary of the pros and cons of kids playing video games.  Please click here for details.

本周教育讲座 Education Seminar

时间：本周日1/25, 10-11：30 AM
地点：B1 （注册室）
Speaker: Dr. Rosenthal, psychologist

This Sunday’s seminar will address a few of the topics that parents have been asking about most often: Concerns about kids playing video games for too long; Concerns about kids resisting doing homework, practicing their musical instruments, & engaging in activities; and finally, concerns about kids’ negative attitudes.
In addition, parents can ask questions and get feedback from other parents and from Dr. Rosenthal.

David Rosenthal has been working with children and families for the past 35 years. He is a licensed psychoanalyst, has a Ph.D. in Psychology, and has been teaching graduate students at NYU and Columbia University for 25 years. He has also done many workshops for parents, athletes, coaches and teachers. He currently works with children and parents at his office in Manhattan.

(As this is a club and not a class, it will require extra parental cooperation i.e., lunch, the purchase of project materials, etc. Students will be self-motivated and will be expected to actively participate.) Communication: Online group discussion and phone conference (Anytime). Updates, announcements, information, etc. will always be through email and/or Facebook. Club meetings will be held in English. 本周日（一月十八日）放假。  No school this Sunday (01/18)

新年伊始开门红，讲演比赛捷报传

我校在上周日结束的华夏总校北区朗诵讲演比赛成绩辉煌，赢得6个一等奖里的5个，1个二等奖，3个三等奖。 Please join all the teachers, school board, and administrators to congratulate the following students who participated in 华夏总校 Regional Final Speech Contest last Sunday.  Our pint-sized little contestants, their rigor, skill, self-discipline, and confidence ensured Sunday’s success.   We collected 5 first prizes out of total 6, 1 second prize and 3 third prizes.

We commend all parents who fought in trenches besides their children with patience, believing in their capabilities and potential.   The 3 parent judges, 伏雅莉，江晨，刘力， who missed their own kids’ performance in order to serve the greater good, deserve the most profuse praise.

All the school teachers and volunteers who poured endless hours into the whole process should also be honored here.  The accomplishment would not be possible without an entire school readily standing behind.

洪滔 Jennifer led the whole event,  得到了王勋银,  何芳，周蔚 , 李琳艳, 王炼，陈海, 赵鹭，宋江晖, 许春川, 高光华，孙凌云,  及至曹校，吴莉华副校长，林董，以及众多家长志愿者的帮助.

Every kid above has worked so hard。 They will all be invited to join the senior winners as student MCs (Master of Ceremony) for the upcoming school Chinese New Year party.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch and Trainin

Last Sunday afternoon the Education Department hosted a Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon. All teachers and their families were invited. Board and admin team members joined the Education Department to express gratitude to the hard work and dedication and wished all teachers Happy New Year 2015! Principal Cao delivered the keynote speech. He updated the teachers HXGNY achievement and progress. In anticipation of continued fast growth of our school Principal Cao discussed with teachers possible strategies to keep up with this anticipated growth. Associate Dean He led participants play some fun games. The room was quite cold but the high spirits warmed it up!

After the luncheon language teachers had a training session.  Associate Dean Sun and third grade MLP teacher Fu reviewed the HX headquarter training and shared their own teaching experiences.

讲座：汉语水平考试 HSK test in Huaxia

时间：周日Jan/11/2015, 10-11：30 AM
地点：B1 （注册室）
Speaker: Shengjing Li and Ching He
HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, 汉语水平考试), is the national standardized test of Chinese as a foreign language. Established in Beijing in 1988, the HSK is widely recognized as the most comprehensive of Chinese language proficiency tests. The HSK measures the proficiency level of non-native speakers of standard Chinese, which may include foreigners, overseas Chinese, and students from Chinese national minorities. It is used as a guideline for admission to colleges and universities in China and Southeast Asia, as well as a reference standard in job recruiting, both within China and in countries around the world where Chinese language skills are necessary.
Currently, all students of Huaxia graduating classes are required to take HSK level 4 test. This year, as one of our education initiatives, we are opening up the test to all eligible students. General introduction of HSK test, application guideline, procedure will be covered in the seminar followed by Q/A session.

威郡华人协会2015年春节联欢会

为迎接2015年春节的到来, 丰富华人社区的文化生活, 增添传统节日气氛，威郡华人协会（Westchester Association of Chinese Americans）安排于2015年2月7日下午2点至6点在威郡活动中心(Westchester County Center)举办“中国传统春节联欢会”活动。

这场活动形式多样，内容丰富，集中国文化、艺术、饮食为一体；分琴棋书画、手工艺术、美味小吃、专业和业余艺术表演等几大类别。并再次有幸请到了中国大陆专业杂技团为大家表演多种杂技表演项目。欢迎大家参加这次盛会并协助提早购票(2015年1月26日前购票者可享受优惠价)。请到各学校购票或请访问 http://www.wacany.org或http://cny2015.eventbrite.com 网站购票。门票也将于一月份在 Information Desk 售卖。
