norman@hbcgroupinc.com if interested.Major Bank/securities firm seeks a senior level person to assist in the development, management and expansion of the risk management function to cover increasing levels of risk arising from new business activities.
Responsibilities:
This person will manage a newly formed risk department within SMBC Nikko to include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
- Initiate and establish a risk management department for SMBC Nikko, while working within the framework of the current corporate structure, business lines, systems and risk management policies
- Oversee all aspects of risk management, market, liquidity, credit, operational and other risks for SMBC Nikko’s front office groups including Fixed Income Sales & Trading, Debt Capital Markets, etc.
- Conduct day-to-day risk management functions for SMBC Nikko
- Review and approve various risk related reports for the Bank, the Tokyo office and outside regulators
- Represent SMBC Nikko as its Risk Manager and build and maintain good relationships with regulators such as FINRA and the FRB
- Spearhead the development and management of the SMBC Nikko Risk Management by working with senior officers and Human Resources in the hiring process and expansion of the group
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 10-15 years of risk management experience within the securities business. Candidates should have significant knowledge of market and liquidity risk, as it relates to the securities business, as well as have a good understanding of regulations and best practices within the industry. Experience in designing and implementing a risk governance framework for a broker-dealer or investment bank is highly desirable.

- Ability to develop and build a team
- Strong quantitative skills, ability to price diverse assets, utilize various risk models
- Provide expertise and advice on all front office risk matters
- Flexible working hours required

Extensive experience dealing with outside regulators.
Total compensation 275k to 300K
