文化课变更通知

为充实授课内容，满足更多家长需求，原Mathcounts Club更改为初中竞赛数学，面向6-8年级学生，内容将由MathCount扩展为AMC8, MathCounts, Math Kangaroo, etc 上课时间改为9：30am – 10：30am。课程将由魏景东老师执教。魏老师对各类数学竞赛做过深入研究，他的孩子在全美数学竞赛中名列前茅。我们衷心感谢魏老师能够将自己研究数学竞赛的心得和教授子女的经验与更多华夏家庭共享。 欢迎感兴趣的学生家长尽快注册。

 

Culture Class Update Notice

 

To extend the coverage of our math education and to better meet parents’ need, we restructured the Mathcounts Club to Middle School Competition Math, target to 6-8th graders. Class hour 9:30am -10:30am. The class will cover AMC8, MathCounts, MathKangaroo, etc. Dr. Wei Jingdong will be the teacher. Dr. Wei has spent years studying different math competitions in America. Benefited from his knowledge and expertise in the field, his son is among the top award winners in US math competitions. We sincerely thank Dr. Wei for volunteering his time to share his experience and knowledge with more Huaxia Families. Please enroll as soon as possible if your child is interested.

八月二十三日星期六下午， 我校将举办全校教师现场教学培训， 对所有社区家庭开放，欢迎有兴趣的家长参加，请电邮xujunhxgny@gmail.com。 我校在七月加入由中国华文教育基金会主办，北京四中网校承办的“完美中国”海外华文教师培训项目， 由北京四中网校为我校教师提供定点培训。继七月二十五日首次举行远程培训后，现场培训项目随之启动。在八月二十三日下午的培训中，培训团队将来到我校进行现场授课并与听众互动。 以下为培训流程：

第一节课（50分钟）课堂管理技巧与方法

国际汉语课堂教学方法与技巧课程内容简介

本课主要介绍针对美国本土中小学生的汉语课堂教学方法与技巧，主要包括以下三项内容：1. 第一堂课的作用；2. 教师的角色；3. 课堂内容的合理安排。通过分享汉语课堂教学中的成功案例和个人心得，解答教师们在汉语课堂教学中的疑惑，帮助教师更有效、更有趣地安排一堂汉语课，使汉语课堂张弛有度、生动有趣。

 

第二节课（50分钟）中国汉语水平考试（HSK）介绍

中国汉语水平考试是为测试母语非汉语者（包括外国人、华侨）的汉语水平而设立的国家级标准化考试。 华夏中文学校将HSK-4设为华夏系统学生的毕业考。本课将介绍HSK 1~5级的题型，对4~5级的教学技巧和方法进行着重讲解。通过介绍，使授课老师了解HSK的考试相关内容，如：题型、题目特点、评分标准及讲解注意事项。

 

主讲教师简介

李岩：毕业于北京语言大学对外汉语系。自2007年起，一直从事国际汉语教学工作，有丰富的汉语教学经验。于2007~2008受聘于泰国BURAPHA大学（东方大学）中文系进行汉语教学，主要讲授中级口语、中级综合课、高级商务汉语及汉语教学法等课程，受到师生一致好评，提出连聘要求。 2008~2013 受聘于中国民航管理干部学院国际汉语交流部，进行汉语教学，主要负责汉语综合课、口语课及HSK5、6级的讲授，由于突出的课堂管理能力及教学能力，连续五年被学校评为“优秀班主任”，及“最具人气教师”奖。2013年至今，受聘于国家开放大学对外汉语教学中心，主要负责海外汉语教材及课件的研究与编写。

 

 

中国华文教育基金会珠心算武汉培训班日程安排和报名表

 

各位老师和家长，由中国华文教育基金会负责招生和主办的2014珠心算培训班将于10月16日至31日在湖北省武汉市举办。珠心算是一门比较新的优秀中华文化，也是去年被联合国确定的世界非物质文化遗产。本届培训班将由两次获得前任国家主席胡锦涛授予二等功的中国最顶级的珠心算教授王卫达执教。培训班学员国际旅费自理，落地后的费用由华文教育基金会全部负责。希望感兴趣的老师和家长踊跃报名。报名时间8月底结束，请直接将报名表发给何芳或电邮咨询fanghe2012@gmail.com。具体培训班课程安排及报名表请点一下链接。

华夏大纽约父母子女教育俱乐部定于8月16日星期六下午4:00 – 7:00举行夏季子女教育专题野餐会, 每家自带晚饭和折叠椅。 野餐会期间将有特邀嘉宾座谈. 地点为 Scout Field Park, 37 Wayside Lane, Scarsdale NY.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience for our planning purpose before August 12th.  Greatly appreciate it!

Please note that there is a playground at the field, but there are no babysitters there.  If your child needs to be watched, please make your own arrangement.

If parking is full at the Girl Scout field, please go to the adjacent Scarsdale High School parking lot which can accommodate a lot more cars, and walk back to the Girl Scout House.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Please bring your own chairs/picnic blankets, and picnic food and drink for your family.  We will focus on the speaker and productive parenting discussions! Please make sure your family including children can respect the speakers during the panel discussion section.  If you need to make separate child care arrangement (e.g. have someone watch the kids in the nearby playground), please plan ahead.

5pm – 6:30 pm – Speakers panel discussion (Please make sure everyone can respect the speakers and listen tentatively during this time.）

6:30-7pm – Open discussion and socialize

嘉宾简历：

刘向群，毕业于上海交大。1992年像许多寻梦者一样留学美国, 硕士毕业后，供职于电信公司，任资深网络系统工程师。2003年，开始兼职创业， 才发现自己“高分低能”的传统知识分子特色。 一切都从头学。 在个人成长中， 逐渐悟出什么是“成才” 的性格。 把自己从 “虎妈” 放松下来， outsource 孩子的教育， 找老师， 找学校， 找朋友。 关注孩子的性格多于学业， 品格多于技艺， 见识多于上课。 鉴于自己中年才悟到成长的奥秘， 所以能咬紧牙关等待孩子开窍。 3个女儿普普通通， 都品格良好，能关心人， 能和成人通畅的沟通， 能知道自己要什么，都在成长。 在爸爸妈妈眼里看着很好：-） 还和孩子一起开窍，成长。

刘轶敏是父母子女教育俱乐部的现任主席。1998年，她来到美国留学。在纽约市工作10多年。首先在德勤会计师事务所，之后在花旗集团兼并与收购（M＆A）顾问团队。所有她过去的工作中，她最爱的是一个妈妈的工作。她认为，孩子在一个家庭中是最宝贵的资产。把我们的时间，精力和心放在最宝贵的财富上是最明智的选择。和孩子们相处，”quality time”重要， “quantity of time”也很重要

黄敏，毕业于华南理工大学建筑结构专业，来美后在City College of New York就读电脑信息专业，拿到硕士学位。现在一所健康保险公司从事IT行业。业余时间热衷于新泽西州父母子女教育俱乐部的志愿者工作。基于自已走过一段＂虎妈＂弯路的切身体会，逐渐认识到与孩子建立彼此相互尊重，相互理解的亲子关系，乃是子女教育最基本的基础。以为父母对孩子的最大责任是教孩子做人，教孩子学会生活。坚信，给孩子一份无条件的爱，一个赏识的笑容，一个成长的空间，孩子就会给我们一份惊喜。父母不能给孩子他们自己没有的东西，说到底，子女教育的根本是父母本人对人生价值观和生活追求的折射，所以不要把过多的时间和精力都花在孩子身上，而尽该更重视自我修炼和提升，与孩子起成长。静下心，放慢节奏，去心去感受孩子, 去享受生活。

徐蕾，毕业于西安交大，1999年来美，现于纽约某银行IT部门任Architect。大女儿8岁，小女儿4岁。4年前和sensitive又strong-will 的大女儿频频冲突之际，偶遇PCE。在跟随PCE的岁月里，接触到了西方人性化的教育理念，逐渐辨析自己内心深藏的虎性。在和孩子的互动中，每每被孩子对父母无条件的爱和接纳感动，为孩子的好奇心，想象力，光鲜的生命力折服，内心深处最初的美好被渐渐唤醒。慢慢地认识到，要改变孩子，唯一能做的事情就是改变自己，提高自己，完善自己。正在以孩子的成长为契机，努力和孩子一起感悟和进步，并享受其中无穷的乐趣。育儿即是育己，成长就是成功。

大纽约华夏中文学校加入“完美中国”海外华文教师远程培训项目

2014年7月25日，由中国华文教育基金会主办，北京四中网校、大纽约华夏中文学校协办、完美（中国）有限公司赞助的“完美中国”海外华文教师远程培训开课仪式在北京四中网校和大纽约华夏中文学校同步举行。中国华文教育基金会李晓梅主任、北京四中网校副校长高钧先生、大纽约华夏中文学校董事长胡大鹏先生、校长曹作军先生、以及大纽约华夏中文学校部分华文教师参加了当天的开课仪式。

在开课仪式上,中国华文基金会李晓梅主任首先致辞并介绍培训项目。李主任对大纽约华夏中文学校的加入表示欢迎，她还就培训项目进展、课程内容等做了简介。她指出学历教育培训、远程师资培训、师资短期培训、学校管理培训是基金会师资培训的重要方面，欢迎大纽约华夏中文学校师生积极参与基金会的各项活动。

北京四中网校副校长高钧在开课仪式上致辞。他谈到：面向海外的华文教师远程培训是一项非常重要、非常有意义的工作，“让更多的孩子得到更好的教育”是北京四中网校的一贯宗旨，对海外华文老师进行培训，能让海外更多的孩子从中受益。这对于中国华文教育基金会、北京四中网校，以及参与培训的海外华文老师来说，是一种共赢的局面。

大纽约华夏中文学校董事长胡大鹏先生也在开课仪式上致辞。胡董事长首先感谢中国华文教育基金会、北京四中网校给予的这次机会，胡董事长介绍到：大纽约华夏中文学校是一所朝气蓬勃、快速成长的华校， 2013年，学校招生规模增长40%，学校秉承的华文教育本土化与多样化的理念受到了学生和家长的热烈欢迎，但是同时也给老师的教学带来了巨大的挑战，正是这样的背景，更加突显了此次远程师资培训的意义,相信通过与北京四中网校的交流和学习，老师们在授课内容、课堂组织、教学管理方面，一定能够有所提升。

大纽约华夏中文学校资深教师、四中校友黄岳女士在开课仪式上特别感谢中国华文教育基金会，愿意花这么大的力气、投入这么大的资金，让海外的孩子也能够领略四中名师的风采，能够体会到中文的美。作为四中校友、同时也是大纽约的老师，黄岳女士衷心预祝培训成功。

当天的开课仪式上，北京四中李頔老师为华夏中文学校华文教师讲授了《课堂管理与领导力》课程，涵盖了海外华文教学难点、学习动力培养、不同年龄学生心智发育、学习习惯特点、游戏教学法等等方面，课后就具体问题与听课老师进行了讨论交流。老师们一致认为讲课的李頔老师水平很高，老师们获益不浅。衷心感谢华文教育基金会和四中网校提供了这个学习平台。

The registration for school year 2014-2015 is a big success.  As the admin team busily prepares for school opening in a month, we encourage any undecided families or new families to register as soon as possible.

For payment:
Please pay by clicking on the Pay by Paypal button.  It will allow you to pay by paypal, or pay by credit card.  Please do NOT send checks.  For any registered but not paid families, please submit your payment as soon as possible.  The registration team will soon start to allocate for waiting list students, as well as order text books for paid students.  Any unpaid students could lose their class placement or not get textbooks on the school opening day.

孩子的成长只有一次, 为人父母也只要一次机会。孩子在带给我们的快乐的同时, 也带给了无数的挑战。您会对孩子“怎么还不开窍”感到焦虑吗？您会对孩子的“不听话”感到束手无策吗？您在孩子教育的过程中有哪些疑问和困惑？您想听听其他家长在发现孩子天赋,兴趣, 因势利导方面的经验分享吗？您想与其他家长一起共同探索有效的沟通方式,建立良好的亲子关系的方法吗? 我们从其它家长所走过的弯路中有何借鉴？我们邀请到几位有经验的家长来与大家分享他们养育孩子十几年来的经验与教训。他们各自有不同的人生经历，在教育孩子方面，也有迥异的方法和侧重点。

 Invitation to the Westchester Summer Outing by WACA

WACA is organizing the Westchester Summer Outing onJuly 12, 2014 at Yosemite Park in Greenburgh, NY. We would like to invite you all to join us and enjoy a fun day together.

For each sponsor organization of the 2014 New Year Festival, WACA will provide a number of tickets for the volunteers for the each organization as a token of our appreciation.
At the same time, can you please post the event in your weekly Newsletter or share it with your members in your organizations. Attached is the flyer for your consideration.

Chinese American Culture Camp

Dear Hua Xia Chinese school families,

Thirty-two (32) middle school students are coming to visit Westport, CT area between July 16th and July 24th
(7/16-7/24). The non-profit organization, Spiral International (spiralinternational.org) is bringing the students here to experience American culture and practice their English through exploring local sites such as the Earthplace Natural Museum, Wakeman Farm, Maritime Aquarium, Westport Arts Center, Yale University, etc. We hope to have local children of similar age join the camp activities as student ambassadors to promote culture and language exchange. We are also looking for good local families to share their homes, lifestyles, and values with these students. This program dedicates itself to building pathways to international friendship and empowering people to become responsible global citizens. Dear HXGNY familiesWe are so excited to announce that registration for 2014-2015 school year is officially open.  Again, we are offering a comprehensive selection of language classes and culture classes for all levels of students interested in Chinese language, history and culture.  Given the incoming interest in our school, we encourage all families to register as early as possible.  In addition, any completed registration (i.e. payment received in full) will receive a $50 discount per student before 7/6/14.

WACA is organizing the Westchester Summer Outing on July 12, 2014 at Yosemite Park in Greenburgh, NY. We would like to invite you all to join us and enjoy a fun day together.For each sponsor organization of the 2014 New Year Festival, WACA will provide a number of tickets for the volunteers for the each organization as a token of our appreciation.

Chinese American Culture Camp
Dear Hua Xia Chinese school families,Thirty-two (32) middle school students are coming to visit Westport, CT area between July 16th and July 24th
(7/16-7/24). The non-profit organization, Spiral International (spiralinternational.org) is bringing the students here to experience American culture and practice their English through exploring local sites such as the Earthplace Natural Museum, Wakeman Farm, Maritime Aquarium, Westport Arts Center, Yale University, etc. We hope to have local children of similar age join the camp activities as student ambassadors to promote culture and language exchange. We are also looking for good local families to share their homes, lifestyles, and values with these students. This program dedicates itself to building pathways to international friendship and empowering people to become responsible global citizens. 祝贺2014届华夏大纽约毕业生! 他们是：高睿、东天信、林伊茗、林安妮、林新丽、刘浩枫、庞岳豪、沈洪琳、沈洪莹、沈洪斌、涂旭辰、王枚、胡薇敏、杨凯琳、杨敏。

六月八日，大纽约华夏中文学校迎来了2013-14年度毕业盛典。早上九点半，学生、家长们开开心心地来到了学校大礼堂，每个大人和孩子都笑容满面，互相问候。老师们忙着发成绩单和奖状。同学、老师和家长经过了一年的共同努力，大家都交出了一份非常令人满意的成绩单。在舞台的中央挂着“大纽约华夏中文学校2014毕业典礼”的横幅，显得格外的醒目。张美华小朋友跳的“小摆群”和童声合唱的国歌让会场安静下来。林骏校长给大家做了简明扼要的致词，中国驻纽约总领事馆王军、文群太领事也到会表示祝贺。然后重头戏开始了，徐俊教务长请出了的毕业班的十五位学生。只见他们身穿庆典礼服，个个显得精神抖擞，青春洋溢。林骏校长、徐俊教务长和毕业班老师林宇给毕业生颁发了毕业证书和优秀毕业生奖状。这届的毕业生非常优秀。其中获得华夏总校优秀毕业生荣誉的涂旭辰、刘浩枫和林伊茗在做毕业生代表演讲时，低年级的学弟学妹们都很羡慕他们的中文这么棒！林宇、陈敏代表老师们给毕业生送去了祝福。林骏校长还给毕业班题了“风华正茂”来祝贺2014届毕业生经过多年坚持不懈的学习，今日圆满毕业。接着， 新任校长曹作军作了总结发言并对新学年进行了展望。

学校特别请来国家一级演员和 专业演出团体为全体师生献上一台精彩纷呈的节目，庆贺孩子们在过去一年里取得的进步！中国国家一级演员杨新英女士和2000年世界魔术大赛金奖的李影老师的母女联袂魔术表演精彩纷程，师生们都被深深地吸引住了。杂技团的精彩表演令人目不暇接，不仅展示了表演者们高深的技艺，而且为学生们展现了中国传统杂技的魅力。他们的表演赢得了全场的阵阵掌声和喝彩，也为毕业典礼画上了一个完美的句号。

Dear HXGNY familiesWe are so excited to announce that registration for 2014-2015 school year is officially open.  Again, we are offering a comprehensive selection of language classes and culture classes for all levels of students interested in Chinese language, history and culture.  Given the incoming interest in our school, we encourage all families to register as early as possible.  In addition, any completed registration (i.e. payment received in full) will receive a $50 discount per student before 7/6/14.

We have made some important changes to our registration policy this year.  We have highlighted some of these changes below.  We highly encourage every family to read the detailed registration policy (http://www.hxgny.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/HXGNY-Registration-Policy-2014-2015-Final.pdf), as these policy will be followed strictly this year.  

Key Registration Highlights:

Early Registration Discount Period – 5/28/14 through 7/6/14
Class Placement – based on FULL tuition payment date
Payment Priority – PayPal payment strongly preferred.  Credit card payment may cause delay linking to school system.  No check accepted
Waiting List – For students that do not get into their desired class, please email hxgny-waitinglist@googlegroups.com.  Please follow instructions in the Registration Policy on how to submit such requests.
Late Fee – $50 late fee will be applied to any family account with account balance or new registration starting 9/8/14

17th Annual Asian American Heritage Festival 6/14/14

Event: 17th annual Asian American Heritage Festival
Date: Saturday, June 14, 2014
Time: 12 noon to 6 pm
Place: Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla, NY
free admission and parking The public is invited to bring family and friends to Kensico Dam for an afternoon of entertainment featuring experts in traditional Asian dance and song and masters of the martial arts, including lion dancers. Professional artists share the stage with children’s dance troupes in colorful traditional costumes. There will be plenty of activities for children such as face painting, Lego classes, Chinese paper cutting, origami, and games. One of the most popular of the ethnic cultural celebrations on Westchester County’s summer calendar, the Asian Heritage festival attracts as many as 7,000 residents each year. It is also a favorite showcase for small businesses and non-profits, featuring vendors selling Asian-themed cultural artifacts and handmade goods, agencies offering educational and health services and local chefs cooking up a wide array of Asian foods. The Festival is organized by the OCA-Westchester & Hudson Valley Chapter and supported by the Westchester County Parks and an array of local corporations and small businesses. The HuaXia Chinese School of Greater New York(HXGNY) will host a school-wide Open House on June 1st from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is the best way for first-time families to visit the school and see what makes the HXGNY experience so special. Through a series of presentations and tours, our guests will get a chance to meet with teachers, administrators, and parents and to hear directly from them about HXGNY – its language and culture classes, its activities for kids and adults, its teachers and its possibilities; it will also be a great opportunity for existing families to know what is coming in the upcoming new school year, meeting old and new friends, and starts to plan for the new 2014-2015 school year.

Please join us for a fun and informative morning. You will also get chance to participate Go games and sports game later.

五月十八日经董事会批准， 2014-2015大纽约华夏中文学校校委会管理团队正式成立。  校长曹作军， 执行副校长吴莉华、夏璐琳， 团队分为教育、注册事务、文体活动、物流办公、安全纪律、宣传外联、技术支持、校长办公室八个部门，同时会根据不同阶段的主要工作随时成立临时性的跨部门任务小组, 您可以点击这里查看管理团队成员名单。

华夏大纽约成立两年来，从规模到质量都在日新月异地不断提高。在新的一年里，学校团队的力量进一步加强，凭借更多的人力资源，我们将在过去两年打下的坚实基础上，保持学校稳定持续的发展，并重点推进以下几方面的工作： 1. 不断提高教育质量，改进不同教材、不同年级之间的衔接，探索高年级中文教学新方法， 持续建设标准化教育评估体系； 2. 加强教师培训、增进教师交流；3. 完善学校管理、操作的正规化、标准化建设；4. 推进文体活动小型化、民主化， 增加家长学生参与度；5.  扩大学校影响， 反馈社区。

千里之行， 始于足下，在过去几周里，学校管理团队新老成员团结协作，为2014年向2015年过渡交出了完美的答卷。 我们基本完成了团队组建，职责交接，制定了下一学年的课程安排、注册规则，充实了教师队伍，更新了网站内容，组织了两场讲座介绍新学年课程，并于本周正式开启新学年学生注册。与此同时，学校还组织了两场教育讲座，举办了“明日之星”演出，华夏春季市场，华夏2014篮球赛，在六月一日，我们还将同时举行学校开放日、现场注册、华夏运动会、华夏围棋赛、健保讲座等五项活动。

大纽约华夏中文学校田径运动会将于六月一日下午在White Plains高中田径场举行， 运动会设有九项比赛项目，并为选手提供免费午餐。届时华夏康州分校师生也将莅临参赛。我校全体学生都可免费参加。截止日期前未登记者，我们将无法安排参加比赛。比赛当天我们还需要广大家长们的大力支持，在选择比赛项目和午餐时，还请选择您可以如何帮助这次运动会，以便我们统一安排。午餐12点开始在餐厅提供，所有参赛选手务请于12点50分前在比赛场地报道。如有疑问请电邮sports_hxgny@googlegroups.com。让我们在赛场上见。

HXGNY Track and Field Games will be held at the track and field stadium of White Plains High School on the afternoon of June 1. There will be nine events in the games and lunch will be provided free to all players. Students and teachers of HX CT will also participate our games. The registration is free to students of our school. We will need all parents’ help on the day of games, so please indicate what you would help in the registration, besides choosing the children’s events and lunch for your family members. We will then arrange your assignment considering your indication. Lunch will start around 12PM in the cafeteria and all participants should report to the referees in the stadium no later than 12:50PM. HXGNY 2014 Go Tournament will be held in the afternoon of June 1. Every person in our community is welcome to participate, including both children and adults and those outside of our Chinese school. Awards will be presented to the winners of the children’s group, while adults will have the great opportunity to play for leisure with other people with the same interest.

2014华夏大纽约围棋竞赛将于六月一日下午举行，社区全体成员都可参加，包括校内外的少儿和成人。少儿组获胜者将获得奖品，成人将有非常好的机会与其他有共同兴趣者交流。

How to control the progression of nearsightedness and astigmatism 06/01

Topic: “How to control the progression of nearsightedness and astigmatism?”
Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Presented by Dr. Ted T. Du, an eye doctor and surgeon in Flushing

Dr. Ted T. Du will speak about how to stop or slow down the progression of nearsightedness and astigmatism. If your children are getting new glasses every year, because their eyes get worse every year, Dr. Du will give you several suggestions on how to prevent that. Wearing CRT contact lens at night starting age 6-7 during sleep is the only clinically-proven way to control myopia and astigmatism. It’s cost-effective, FDA-approved, and more importantly, IT WORKS!

Dr.Du will also bring eyedrops and eye vitamins, all free to listeners.

Registration for the 2014-2015 school year will begin shortly in the incoming weeks.  All existing families of HXGNY will receive a special edition of Newsletter announcing the open registration date, procedure and policies via email.  Currently, the registration system is closed for upgrade purposes.

华夏大纽约中文学校（HXGNY）将于6月1日 10:00 am 到 1:00 pm 举办全校开放日。这将给新家庭提供最好的机会来了解学校，体验 HXGNY 的独到之处。通过一系列的介绍和参观，大家将有机会与教师，学校管理人员，家长及学生交流，并从他们那里听到关于HXGNY的第一手资料， 如语言课和文化课的设置，为孩子和成人安排的活动；对现有的家庭来说，这也是一个很好的机会，从而了解新学年的课程及活动并尽早确定下一学年的计划。

The HuaXia Chinese School of Greater New York(HXGNY) will host a school-wide Open House on June 1st from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is the best way for first-time families to visit the school and see what makes the HXGNY experience so special. Through a series of presentations and tours, our guests will get a chance to meet with teachers, administrators, and parents and to hear directly from them about HXGNY – its language and culture classes, its activities for kids and adults, its teachers and its possibilities; it will also be a great opportunity for existing families to know what is coming in the upcoming new school year, meeting old and new friends, and starts to plan for the new 2014-2015 school year.

Please join us for a fun and informative morning. You will also get chance to participate Go games and sports game later.

大纽约华夏中文学校田径运动会 (Track and Field Event) 6/1

大纽约华夏中文学校田径运动会将于六月一日下午在White Plains高中田径场举行， 运动会设有九项比赛项目，并为选手提供免费午餐。届时华夏康州分校师生也将莅临参赛。我校全体学生都可免费参加, 报名截止日期是五月二十五号，报名按此链接。截止日期前未登记者，我们将无法安排参加比赛。比赛当天我们还需要广大家长们的大力支持，在选择比赛项目和午餐时，还请选择您可以如何帮助这次运动会，以便我们统一安排。午餐12点开始在餐厅提供，所有参赛选手务请于12点50分前在比赛场地报道。如有疑问请电邮sports_hxgny@googlegroups.com。让我们在赛场上见。

HXGNY Track and Field Games will be held at the track and field stadium of White Plains High School on the afternoon of June 1. There will be nine events in the games and lunch will be provided free to all players. Students and teachers of HX CT will also participate our games. The registration is free to students of our school. Please follow this link to register before the May 25 deadline. We will need all parents’ help on the day of games, so please indicate what you would help in the registration, besides choosing the children’s events and lunch for your family members. We will then arrange your assignment considering your indication. Lunch will start around 12PM in the cafeteria and all participants should report to the referees in the stadium no later than 12:50PM. Please emailsports_hxgny@googlegroups.com if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing all of you in the games.

HXGNY 2014 Go Tournament will be held in the afternoon of June 1. Every person in our community is welcome to participate, including both children and adults and those outside of our Chinese school. Awards will be presented to the winners of the children’s group, while adults will have the great opportunity to play for leisure with other people with the same interest. The registration is open now till May 25. Please register early since the cutoff will be strictly by enrollment time if players exceed our capacity. To register, please fill the attached form and email it back to hxgny.go@gmail.com. The registration is free this time.

In this education seminar, Dr. Rosenthal introduces the idea that some amount of negativity and saying “No” is needed for children’s successful growing-up. Dr. Rosenthal also suggests that parents help their kids say more about their negative feelings. This is a first step in developing a more cooperative relationship with our kids.

“水立方杯”歌曲大赛大纽约地区选拔赛

“水立方杯”歌曲大赛大纽约地区选拔赛开始报名，年满14到22岁的定居美国的中国华侨或美籍华人可报名参加水立方杯”海外华裔青少年中文歌曲大赛活动，是由中国国务院侨办、北京市人民政府、中华全国青年联合会共同主办，北京侨办、北京电视台等承办。在海外20个城市选拔出40个选手到北京参加复赛和总决赛，凡年满14到22岁的定居美国的中国华侨或美籍华人可报名参加。

大纽约地区选拔赛中获特等奖和一等奖的选手，会被推荐到北京参加复赛。在复赛中获奖的选手将有机会参加8月8日在北京水立方举办的盛大颁奖典礼和文艺晚会，和国内众多艺术家联袂演出，晚会由北京电视台全程转播。

水立方杯比赛已经是第三届。2011年纽约赛区选送的选手黄一获得第一届总决赛唯一金奖，张冬妮获银奖，2012年，纽约选送的选手蓝天获得总决赛铜奖，2013年李安媒和刘瀚博分别获北京总决赛金银奖和优秀创作奖。另外，参加纽约选拔赛的选手还有机会被推荐参加北京侨办组织的13天免费2014寻根之旅夏令营活动。由于夏令营名额有限，推荐条件另行规定。

去北京参加比赛的选手机票自理，其他费用由国内主办方安排食宿。

比赛将于6月1日星期日在法拉盛举办。欢迎14至22岁的华裔青少年报名参加，免费报名。

2014 – 2015 学年注册信息 (2014 – 2015 Registration News)
Registration for the 2014-2015 school year will begin shortly in the incoming weeks.  All existing families of HXGNY will receive a special edition of Newsletter announcing the open registration date, procedure and policies via email.  Currently, the registration system is closed for upgrade purposes.  In the interim, there are several house-keeping items that we require parents’ attention:

If you don’t remember your username and password, please email registration@hxgny.org ASAP.  We may not be able to process these requests on a timely basis once registration begins.
We would highly encourage families to open a Paypal account, as it is the best / fastest way to link real-time into our registration system.  Payment by credit card will cause delay in syncing up with our system.  Checks are no longer accepted.
Families with account balance will receive a private reminder email before the weekend.  If you are unclear about the balance, please email registration@hxgny.org ASAP, so we can resolve for you.  If you want to clear your balance, please bring a check to Information Desk at H-room this Sunday.  We can’t make effective new registration till all old balance is cleared.

Topic: How to Develop a More Cooperative Relationship With Your Children

Speaker: Prof. David Rosenthal from Columbia University

Below is a brief bio of Prof. Rosenthal.

David Rosenthal teaches Clinical Case Evaluation at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). He received his MSW from Columbia University in 1979, and his PhD from The Union Institute & University in 1989.

Dr. Rosenthal has worked as a clinical social worker with children and families in various settings for more than twenty years. He has served as Director of Training at the Grand Street Settlement, and as Director of Mental Health in the Children’s Aid Society’s Community Schools.

He has been involved in social work education for many years, teaching Clinical Practice courses at both the Masters and Post-Masters levels, and serving as field supervisor for many interns.

还有比在母亲节看到自己孩子们精彩的舞台表演更令妈妈高兴的吗？ 那欢喜满足，骄傲自豪不是1个LV包，2条爱马仕围巾可以比拟的。母亲节这天我校的《明日之星-才艺大展》获得圆满成功。小朋友们的表演让现场时刻洋溢着掌声与喝彩。节目有体操，功夫瑜伽，呼啦圈，民族舞， 少儿舞，唱歌，古筝，提琴等等。三位小主持人是2013举行的《自信童年，风采尽现》“朗诵演讲主持人”比赛获奖者。

大纽约华夏中文学校数学俱乐部学生参加Math Count全国竞赛取得好成绩

美国初中生一年一度的MathCounts全国数学竞赛于五月九号在佛罗里达州的迪斯尼天鹅大酒店举行。224位选手来自全美56个州和地区。他们经过学校，地区和州三层竞赛选拔出来。大纽约华夏中文学校数学俱乐部六年级学生魏征有幸成为纽约州队四位选手之一。决赛选手们济济一堂，进行了个人笔试和团体笔试， ESPN还直播了最终抢答赛。今年纽约队获得了团体第四名。这是纽约队近年来获得的最好成绩， 比去年提高了十五名。魏征在我们中文学校读马立平六年级，并且参加了我校的数学MathCounts/AMC俱乐部。在过去的一年里，数学俱乐部的徐珉老师、魏景东老师为俱乐部的学生们精心安排了各种习题训练并讲解了相关内容。校方也大力支持俱乐部的活动，安排模拟测试，提供了各种资料等。
