3/26日 华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示 (HXGNY 2017 Talent Show _ March 26) 

第五届华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示将于 2017年3月26日下午12:15-3点 在 Little Theater 举行（上半场12:15-1:15  下半场1:25-3:00），旨在弘扬中国文化之余，鼓励华夏学生学习中文的积极性，培养舞台表演的自信心，打造能力与魅力兼具的明日之星。
内容：表演语言仅限中文，包括戏剧、唱歌、朗诵、讲故事、绕口令、舞蹈、小品、乐器（如是西乐,没有钢琴）等
规则：
—个人节目限时3分钟，多人节目限时4分钟
—每位表演者最多可参演1个个人节目和1个多人节目
—请自备所有道具及乐器
—帮助播放背景音乐（表演者需事先提供MP3伴奏音乐，Email 至 yiqiao.mao@gmail.com ）
—为尊重所有演员，表演顺序将在当日按幼儿，低，中，高年级组内抽签决定，演出从幼儿组开始。抽签之后不做调整

校董会通知 Board Announcement: 2017 Principal Search Process

The board has authorized the nomination committee to start the 2017 Principal search process. The committee members include Zuojun Cao, Dapeng Hu, Holly Huang, and Linda Wu. The nomination committee will nominate potential candidates, confirm candidates’ acceptance of the nomination, review candidates’ application materials, conduct interview and check references as necessary, and recommend all qualified candidates to the Board. The board will review all candidates and vote to select the Principal.

The Principal is a volunteer position. Below are the eligibility requirements and desired qualification:

•Must have integrity and be willing to voluntarily serve the school with passion and enthusiasm
•Must be committed to the long-term growth and development of HXGNY
•People with working experience with HXGNY admin team and with proven leadership skills are strongly preferred.

To apply, please email your name, qualification and a statement of plans and ideas on how to run the school to the board hxgnyboard@googlegroups.com, before March 17th. The qualified candidates will be required to give a presentation to the board.  Thank you.

本周日（3/12）教育讲座：乒乓少年的中美奥运路

本周日10AM B seminar room, 11AM North Gym, 健将讲座并有精彩乒乓表演；亲见专业选手炫技，不容错过的福利！

张开__美国著名乒乓球运动员，2015年全美一号种子选手。在多项全美大赛中获得冠亚军，并多次代表美国参加国际比赛赢得奖项。生长于北京，自幼有乒乓天赋，入选北京少年队，青年队，接受多年专业训练。十五岁时移民美国，一边学习一边发展乒乓事业。今年张开即将从Pleasantville 高中毕业，开始大学生活。他将继续乒乓球运动生涯，目标是代表美国参加2020年奥运会。

在学习和训练之余，张开热心社会公益事业，积极组织推广乒乓球活动，辅导青少年，组织慈善活动，获得数项青少年领导力和社区服务奖。张开品学兼优，他独特的经历和出色的成绩对广大家长和学生都很有参考价值。

Will Shortz__ Westchester Table Tennis Center 创办人，乒乓球爱好者，业余高手，在美国积极推广乒乓运动的著名人士。张开少年时期在美国的监护人。世界著名制谜大师，担任纽约时报字谜版编辑逾二十年，出版个人谜集上百本，历年担任多项世界字谜图谜大赛组委，并担任美国队主教练。由于Shortz先生独特的跨界经历，他在美国文化人士中推广乒乓球，培养了大量新的爱好者。他的俱乐部国际化程度很高，有二十多个国家的运动员参与，包括不少世界级选手。

身怀算数才，自有稻粱谋! 我校一年一度的数学竞赛将于本周日（3月12日）举行，欢迎全校学生参加！竞赛既能提高同学们对数学的兴趣，又可检验奥数班的学习成果。为方便更多的同学参与，今年特新增奥数班的随堂竞赛。选奥数课的学生请参加上课时间进行的竞赛，其余的可参加与往年一样1:15-2:15pm的下午场。同一试卷，为英文。

Time to show off your math prowess and be giddy with the realization that your Chinese fluency and math skills have both improved in HXGNY!  Math Contest problem sets are in English. If the student registered a HX Math class, s/he will take the exam in 3/12 class. If not, please join the contest 1:15-2:15pm.

第一期亚裔高中生领导能力培训活动回顾

上周日由美国华人协会威郡分会主办在华夏大纽约开设了第一期亚裔高中生领导能力培训，有三十多名学生参加了这次活动。在轻松的破冰游戏里大家相互认识，通过小组讨论、分组表演等多项互动形式让学生们了解到亚裔在美寻求合法移民权利的漫长而艰难的历程，并认识到积极参与社区活动、关心他人、维护自身权益的重要性。

Last Sunday (3/5/17), APA-Youth Advocate and Leadership training program (hosted by OCA-WHV) was held at the HXGNY for the high school students for the first time.  More than 30 students attended the event.  They warmed up during an interesting ice-breaker game; learned about the history of Asian-Pacific American immigrants in the US through group discussions and came to realize the importance of the advocate and how to protect yourself in the case of bullying at the schools.

本周日2/26两场讲座：摄影讲座 (9:30-11:00) 和华夏大纽约夏令营问答讲座(11:00-12:00) in B Seminar Room

摄影讲座,肖像摄影的沿革和欣赏 9:30am-11:00am 

人类想要看清自己真实形象，并使该形象永久凝固的欲望，可能是促成1839年摄影术发明的一个主要原因。肖像摄影几乎与摄影术同时诞生，它是人们最司空见惯的摄影形式。肖像，作为身份标志，如影随形，无处不在。

本讲座试图通过介绍肖像摄影发展的脉络和中外著名肖像摄影家的作品，来介绍肖像摄影的定义、沿革和不同风格，并帮助听众了解如何欣赏肖像摄影作品，以便说明在人人都是摄影家的时代，尽管自拍照已大行其道，但肖像摄影作为摄影的一个主要形式仍将具有其重要意义。

摄影大师介绍：江融获纽约市立大学政治学硕士学位，曾在纽约国际摄影中心进修。1989年至今在联合国大会和会议管理部翻译司中文处工作。现任联合国工作人员文娱理事会摄影协会主席。曾创作《我联合国人民》、《镜像-我中国人民》和《我土著人民》肖像摄影作品，并在联合国总部、纽约皇后艺术博物馆、上海世博会、平遥国际摄影节、连州国际摄影年展、大连美术馆、以及大河摄影画廊等地展出。2009年获 “中国摄影金像奖”。

2017华夏大纽约“中国寻根之旅”夏令营问答讲座, 11:00am-12:00pm

校董会通知 Board Announcement: 2017 Principal search process

The board has authorized the nomination committee to start the 2017 Principal search process. The committee members include Zuojun Cao, Dapeng Hu, Holly Huang, and Linda Wu. The nomination committee will nominate potential candidates, confirm candidates’ acceptance of the nomination, review candidates’ application materials, conduct interview and check references as necessary, and recommend all qualified candidates to the Board. The board will review all candidates and vote to select the Principal.

The Principal is a volunteer position. Below are the eligibility requirements and desired qualification:

•Must have integrity and be willing to voluntarily serve the school with passion and enthusiasm
•Must be committed to the long-term growth and development of HXGNY
•People with working experience with HXGNY admin team and with proven leadership skills are strongly preferred.

To apply, please email your name, qualification and a statement of plans and ideas on how to run the school to the board hxgnyboard@googlegroups.com, before March 17th. The qualified candidates will be required to give a presentation to the board.  Thank you.
