华夏大纽约中文学校（HXGNY）将于6月1日举办全校开放日。这将给新家庭提供最好的机会来了解学校，体验HXGNY的独到之处。通过一系列的介绍和参观，大家将有机会与教师，学校管理人员，家长及学生交流，并从他们那里听到关于HXGNY的第一手资料， 如语言课和文化课的设置，为孩子和成人安排的活动；对现有的家庭来说，这也是一个很好的机会，从而了解新学年的课程及活动并尽早确定下一学年的计划。

The HuaXia Chinese School of Greater New York(HXGNY) will host a school-wide Open House on June 1st. This is the best way for first-time families to visit the school and see what makes the HXGNY experience so special. Through a series of presentations and tours, our guests will get a chance to meet with teachers, administrators, and parents and to hear directly from them about HXGNY – its language and culture classes, its activities for kids and adults, its teachers and its possibilities; it will also be a great opportunity for existing families to know what is coming in the upcoming new school year, meeting old and new friends, and starts to plan for the new 2014-2015 school year.

Please join us for a fun and informative morning. You will also get chance to participate Go games and sports game later.

新学年注册和选课指南系列讲座(Seminar for Registration and Class Selection Next Year) (1)：

新学年的注册即将临近，为了家长，学生们更好了解学校有关注册的政策，熟悉注册系统，并且做好语言课和文化课的选择，校委会和教育委员会专门举办二次有关注册和选课指南的系列讲座，具体介绍学校的课程安排，并回答大家关心的问题，系列讲座(1)安排在五月十一日 （新学年注册和语言课的选择），系列讲座(2)在五月十一八日 （文化课的选择）。希望大家踊跃参加。

大纽约华夏中文学校数学竞赛  (Math Competition) 5/18

为了激发孩子们对数学学习的热情和兴趣，我校将举办数学竞赛。* 时间： 05/18 1PM – 2PM
* 地点： TBD
* 规则：
1. 经过老师讨论， 竞赛改分以下小组
Math Kangaroo (1 – 3 Grade)
Math Kangaroo (4 – 5 Grade)
Math Count/AMC (6 Grade and above)
SAT Math (6 Grade and above)
2. 请基于英文学校所在的年级选择小组报名。每个小组每一年级前三名给予奖励。

大纽约华夏中文学校田径运动会 (Track and Field Event) 6/1

大纽约华夏中文学校田径运动会将于六月一日下午在White Plains高中田径场举行， 运动会设有九项比赛项目，并为选手提供免费午餐。届时华夏康州分校师生也将莅临参赛。我校全体学生都可免费参加, 报名截止日期是五月二十五号，报名按此链接。截止日期前未登记者，我们将无法安排参加比赛。比赛当天我们还需要广大家长们的大力支持，在选择比赛项目和午餐时，还请选择您可以如何帮助这次运动会，以便我们统一安排。午餐12点开始在餐厅提供，所有参赛选手务请于12点50分前在比赛场地报道。如有疑问请电邮sports_hxgny@googlegroups.com。让我们在赛场上见。HXGNY Track and Field Games will be held at the track and field stadium of White Plains High School on the afternoon of June 1. There will be nine events in the games and lunch will be provided free to all players. Students and teachers of HX CT will also participate our games. The registration is free to students of our school. Please follow this link to register before the May 25 deadline. We will need all parents’ help on the day of games, so please indicate what you would help in the registration, besides choosing the children’s events and lunch for your family members. We will then arrange your assignment considering your indication. Lunch will start around 12PM in the cafeteria and all participants should report to the referees in the stadium no later than 12:50PM. 大纽约华夏中文学校 围棋赛 (Go Tournament)  6/1

HXGNY 2014 Go Tournament will be held in the afternoon of June 1. Every person in our community is welcome to participate, including both children and adults and those outside of our Chinese school. Awards will be presented to the winners of the children’s group, while adults will have the great opportunity to play for leisure with other people with the same interest. The registration is open now till May 25. Please register early since the cutoff will be strictly by enrollment time if players exceed our capacity. To register, please fill the attached form and email it back to hxgny.go@gmail.com. The registration is free this time.2014华夏大纽约围棋竞赛将于六月一日下午举行，社区全体成员都可参加，包括校内外的少儿和成人。少儿组获胜者将获得奖品，成人将有非常好的机会与其他有共同兴趣者交流。报名从现在起至五月二十五日截至。如报名人数太多，我们将严格按照报名时间决定最后参赛选手。请尽早填好随附的报名表并电邮到hxgny.go@gmail.com。 这次比赛没有报名费。

2014年华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示  (Talent Show) 5/11

为宏扬中国文化, 鼓励华夏学生学习中文的积极性，培养舞台表演能力, 华夏中文学校大纽约分校将举行《华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示》。时间 : Sunday 05/11/2014,12:30 PM -3:00 PM
地点 : Auditorium　学校礼堂

每位表演学生12：30在礼堂外午餐时收取由学校提供pizza或 hot dog 和水一瓶。家长及其它观众可付$5购买同样午餐。
正式演出1：00开始。请大家准时。节目顺序已定，恕不临时变更。

To promote Chinese culture, provide more opportunities for our students to practice speech and enrich stage performance experiences, HXGNY will host “2014 HXGNY Future Star Talent Show” on 5/11/2014 between 12:30PM to 3PM. Kids who are in the talent show can pick up lunch (pizza or hot dog plus one bottle of water) outside the auditorium at 12:30pm. Adults and other kids can also purchase lunch for $5 if we have extra. We will start the program as soon as possible before 1pm.

Please view the final schedule of the program. Please prepare to stay till 3pm, and thank you for your understanding that we can not change the order of the program.

 

Recap: 华夏大纽约第二届“大华春季集市” 

华夏大纽约在上周日成功举办了春季集市。二十四个家庭在H-room开设了摊位，许多学生带来了精心制作的招牌广告。家长、学生们在各个摊位上精心挑选物美价廉的商品，年轻的卖主们则努力学习如何招揽顾客、讨价还价、计算亏盈。 感谢所有参与活动的家长学生。​学生们将收入的二到三成捐给了学校。销售奖得奖名单为：吴易帆(MZHY G3) , 吴依蓉(MLP_G3C1),李正汉（G8), 李千寻（G3C1),Yang Xiaotong (成人班），夏皮皮（G2 )，和杨博雅（K). 吴易帆 和吴依蓉 将全部销售所得捐献, 捐赠最多。在此特别致谢. 请获奖者本周末到学校咨询台领奖。所有参加者都将获得学校颁发的证书。

Our spring market event last weekend was a huge success. Twenty eight families opened their vending booths in the H-room. Many students came with creative posters to advertise their merchandise. During the market hours, hundreds of parents and students wandered between the tables to find their favorite items at an extraordinarily reasonable price. Our young business people learned all the tricks of attracting customers, bargaining with clients and calculating revenue.
Kids donated 20-30% of their collections to the school. ​ The top donors ​are Bryant Wu (MZHYG3), Caitlyn Wu (MLPG3C1), Zhenghan Li（G8),Sophia Li (MLPG3C1), Xiaotong Yang (adult class), Ethan Xia (G2), and Alina Yang (K).​ Special thanks to Bryant Wu and Caitlyn Wu who donated 100% of their revenues. All participants can pick up certificate at the front desk on Sunday.
We thank all the students and parents for their participation and contribution to the school.

趣味销售，锻炼能力

想到赶集， 就会想到《清明上河图》描绘的繁华热闹的春集。 去年我校的春季集市极为成功， 应家长同学的热烈要求， 我校将于本周日 5/4， 11:30-1:30 在学校大厅（H Room）举办第二届”大华春季集市”。 欢迎各家各户将春季扫除清理橱柜整理出来的玩具书籍，运动服装器械，手工艺品，糕点饮料(写清成分)等拿来集市上开设销售展位。
为使此次活动更校园营销的特色，每个展位由学生主打，家长配合。鼓励参展学生自制广告、横幅、传单、价目表。我们希望参加活动的家庭将销售总额的20-30%捐赠给学校。 请点击这里阅读活动细则和报名表。

为鼓励学生学习中文，培养舞台表演能力，HXGNY诚邀所有同学参加《2014 华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示 》。

时间 : Sunday 05/11/2014,12:30 PM -3:00 PM
地点 : Auditorium　学校礼堂

表演形式: 中文戏剧，唱歌，朗诵，讲故事，说绕口，中式乐器，西洋乐器演奏中国曲目（不提供钢琴）
表演规则：1）个人表演不超过3分钟；集体(2人以上)不超过5分钟。2）每人最多可上台表演两次。
报名费每个学生＄５(含午餐)。午餐时收取。

Recap: 华夏总校北区辩论比赛 4/27
(HuaXia Chinese School Northern Division Debate Contest)

辩论，不仅是语言的艺术，更是思维的艺术。辩论赛是对于学生运用中文语言能力和思辩能力在短时间内的集中训练。在刚刚落幕的华夏辩论赛中，北区共有四所学校参加，共8个代表队。我校同学取得了优异的成绩。在4-6年级组，我校正方队员吴杰明，刘朵睿，郑芷兰，反方队员 徐翰轩，廖晓安，周宇洋获得二等奖。在7-9年级组，我校同学以绝对优势获得第一名。我校正方队员徐翰扬，王弈都，陆尔希，反方队员吴奕康，吴宗书，颜睿奇获得一等奖。吴奕康同学获得最佳辩手。

在三个月的辛苦准备中，在赛场上同学神采奕奕的唇枪舌剑中，我们看到了无数志愿者的无私奉献，看到了学生们在压力中成长，看到了学生们体会到了中文语言的魅力。欢迎更多的同学参加到中文辩论的队伍中来。

Education Seminar: Brain Balance 05/04/2014

Where: Cafeteria

Dr. Mark Goldenberg from Brain Balance will give us a talk about the new science of how a child’s brain is wired and the function of the left and right hemisphere. He will further explain what is the cause of learning difficulty and behavior issues, and their method to  form effective neural pathways that improve attention and focus, academic performance, reduce negative behaviors and improve social skills and interaction.

HXGNY school has more than doubled in size since inception, and we are all very proud for this significant growth.  Our school is completely run by volunteers, and a big thanks to the many volunteers who are dedicated to serve our community and put in countless hours and efforts.

Now looking into 2014-2015 academic year, we are seeking additional volunteers to join the administration team and continue to serve all the children and the families in the school.

2014 Cultural Tour for Outstanding Overseas Chinese College Students

2014优秀华裔大学生文化参访团

Commissioned by Chinese Educational Foundation and Beijing Overseas Exchange Association, the Chinese School Association of United States will be the official organizer of the 2014 Cultural Tour for Outstanding Overseas Chinese College Students. The details of the tour are as follows:

The tour is to provide select outstanding overseas Chinese college students opportunities to conduct social studies in Beijing where there is a wealth of cultural and educational resources. This tour will help such students to have a better understanding of Chinese cultural traditions as well as a better appreciation of the culture. The tour will also provide the students a real-life experience of what is happening in China in government and its policies, as well as its economic development trends. Therefore, the students on this tour will also have an opportunity to evaluate their future career options and how they can make it connect with such an environment.
