Teacher Training Recap:本学年第二次教师培训会于上周日（9月23日）下午12:30-3:30在Cafeteria举 行。李谦云、林宇、焦世强三位教师作了专题报告。李谦云老师总结自己多年华夏教学实践介绍了如何根据儿童心理特点来维护良好的课堂秩序。林宇老师以 《我对香烟过敏》一课为例向老师们做了一次生动的美洲华语示范课。焦世强老师则生动形象地演示了如何教授五年级马立平中文。三位老师的报告都非常精彩。除了教师专题报告外，黄岳副校长展望了教学改革的中期方向。林骏校长介绍了学生写作能力评估体系建立的一些设想。包雷向老师们演示了如何自主管理网页，在网 上和家长交流及发布作业信息。Parking Lot Change This Sunday:

Per WPHS request, we are to use Parking Lot A this Sunday. Please see map here. Please follow security team’s road sign and use the main entrance to enter the school. Parents should come to school earlier to accomodate longer walking distances to classrooms from Parking Lot A.

Adult Class lists and location:

Below are adult culture classes that will open this Sunday.  Any class that does not have sufficient enrollment after two weeks will be cancelled.  If you or you know someone who is interested in your class, please register as soon as possible.  For classes that are assigned “Hall” location, please meet your teacher in the H-room first and the teacher will take all students to the desired location in the hall way.  If you have a classroom assigned, you can go to the classroom directly after registering at the registration desk.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dean Mingbao Zhang at 203 570 8879.

A registration desk will be setup this Sunday (until 11:20am) in H-Room to help adult class registration.

Mid-Autumn Festival Update (Oct. 7)：  The Mid-autumn welcome party will be held at White Plains High School on Oct. 7 from 12:30 to 3:30PM. Lunch will be provided (12:30-1:30pm), followed by performance (1:00-3:00pm). Tickets ($6 per person) will be sold on this Sunday.

天涯共明月，我们又将迎来阂家团聚的中秋佳节。新朋旧友，新老教师，新的校园将我们融入了一个新的大家庭。十月七日，我们将在White Plains High School 举办华夏大纽约中秋联欢会。 12:30pm-1:30pm为聚餐时间, 1:30pm至3:00pm我们将在学校礼堂进行文艺演出。欢迎大家积极参与我们新校园的第一次盛会. 请大家这个星期天在办公室买票 （$6 一人）。

2012 Huaxia Mindsports Application Deadline Oct. 5:

Kid Play Corner (H-Room):

The school reserves a play corner for the babies/kids who do not attend any class and their mothers. Any interested mother is welcome to bring her baby/kid and toys to the corner. The location is H-room.
Student Corner（小语世界） Positions Open：

We are calling for editors, correspondents to HXGNY Student Corner – 小语世界.  Please send your application to hxgnyadmin@googlegroups.com.

Here are the open positions:
1. Editor-in-Chief: 要求: 有丰富的编辑工作经验, 有较高的文字编辑能力和沟通能力，善于领导与管理团队,  善于独立工作。要求在HXGNY G9或中文AP在读, 或者刚毕业于HXNY, 仍担任TA工作。申请者须提交一份短文 (中英文俱可), 说明对这份工作的设想；一份五百字以内独立完成的中文作文, 提供两个推荐人信息。

2. Editors: 对主编负责, 根据选题征集稿源, 完成稿件的编辑工作, 在规定期限前提交给主编。要求：喜欢中文写作，有一定的文字编辑能力，能够在截稿期之前完成工作, 有较好的沟通能力。要求在HXGNY G6或以上在读(含中文AP) , 或者刚毕业于HXNY, 仍担任TA工作。申请者须提交一份短文(中英文俱可), 说明为什么胜任这份工作; 一份五百字以内独立完成的中文作文. 如有可能，请附上中文老师的推荐意见。

3. Correspondents: 配合编辑, 负责稿件的征集或采写工作。要求：有一定的中文写作能力，有较好的沟通能力。要求在HXGNY G4或以上在读。申请者须提交一份三百字以内独立完成的中文作文; 如有可能，请附上中文老师的推荐意见。
