亲爱的家长们,

在过去的一个半月内，原华夏纽约2011-2012的管理团队众志成城，紧锣密鼓地进行华夏大纽约的新学年准备工作。在广大志愿者和教师的共同努力下，华夏大纽约将于九月九日如期开学。欢迎新老家长度过愉快的暑期后重返学校，伴随您的孩子开启学习中文的新旅程。

Campus Location: 学校地址在White Plains High School，550 North Street, White Plains, NY 10605。我校师生可专用B楼侧门进出，从路口转入校园即可看到。HXGNY将使用B楼的全部教室和C楼的部分教室，各楼之间均由室内通道连接。进门后，家长可直达作为休息区的Cafeteria和宽敞明亮的Ｈ-Room. B楼教室环绕Ｈ-Room，分处一楼和二楼。从一楼经回廊，可到达C楼的教室。(See Maps: school layout map, school floor map)

开学第一天，您可以在设于Cafeteria的注册台办理交费等事宜。现场缴费的家长，凭收据领取孩子的教材。事先缴费的孩子可直接去所在的教室，由各班家长代表直接领取教材发放。

学校办公室设在H-Room. 请教师、助教和值班家长在签到台签到。您有疑问，可以在进口处的咨询台、Cafeteria的注册台，以及H-Room的办公室得到解答。

Tuition payment is due:If you have already registered, tuition payment is due. If you have not done already, please mail in your tuition as soon as possible so that the school will receive your payment by Saturday 9/8/2012. Tuition check should be payable to “HXGNY” with registration ID number written on your check and mail to: HXGNY, P.O. Box 583, Purchase, NY 10577 -0583.

Textbook Distribution Procedures:Students with their tuition check received on or before Saturday 09/08 can get the textbooks in class. The class parent will deliver the books directly.

If you decide to pay tuition on the 1st day of school, you need to go to the registration desk (Cafeteria) first to pay and get a permission slip before you can go to the textbook distribution desk for your children’s textbook. Please come to school 15 minutes earlier to avoid unnecessary delay on the 1st day of school.

助教招募中 TA Recruiting:

We are in need of more teaching assistants. If your child is 14 years or older, please encourage them to sign up for volunteering at HXGNY. Application Form Link Here .

Items Needed for the pre-K program：

We would like to ask HXGNY community to consider donating the following items to the preschool program:
· Puzzles: tabletop – 10-30 pieces; giant floor puzzles
· Board games: Candyland, connect four, I spy bingos, etc.
· Math games: Mighty Mind pattern blocks, Legos, etc.
· Pretend play: dress up cloths, tea sets, pretend food, etc.

Sports facilities and Sports Clubs News: Gym will be available on 9/9/2012, please bring your own equipment.Our facility use agreement has already covered gym for basketball, volleyball, and badminton use. Soccer team could use the external field. To better assist parents who need to access to tennis court and swimming pool, we are collecting headcounts. Some parents already contacted us for their interests on joining sports club such as Tennis, Badminton and Swimming. Please contact Office General Manager Mr. Jiajun Wu (jason_wu_2003@yahoo.com) if you have interest. We will coordinate the reservation of these facilities accordingly. The rate for our school will be $75/hour (plus lifeguard) for pool and $15/hour per court for tennis court. More participants will help reduce the cost for individuals. Each sports team will coordinate among the participants on use rules and responsibilities.

青春版《牡丹亭》;紐約;訪談、講座、公演;

由著名作家白先勇主持制作、蜚聲中外的青春版昆曲《牡丹亭》，將于十月七日;在;紐約演出精華部分。主辦單位爲亞太藝術中心和華美人文學會。;

在中國戲劇史上，《牡丹亭》是一經典劇目。但由於劇中主角在外形、嗓音及其內心感情表演上對演員的要求甚高，極少數演員能將《牡丹亭》演得形神並茂。而白先勇的青春版就達到這最高境界，他選的演員不僅形美、舞蹈動作如詩如畫，也更深入角色的內心，惟妙惟肖地演出他們心中的愛與怨、悲和歡。也就是因為這些難能可貴的因素和條件，青春版《牡丹亭》在中國大陸、港台、歐洲和美國西岸做了百餘場演出。所到之處，可謂萬人空巷，有口皆碑。十月七日此劇在紐約的公演是在美東首次演出，也是唯一上演的一場。熱愛中國文化、喜愛崑曲的人士不可不看。關於演出地點和購票詳情，請訪;http://chineselectures.org/peony.html。;

教师培训与Open House圆满结束

亲爱的家长们，大纽约华夏中文学校9月1日教师培训与Open House圆满结束大纽约华夏中文学校今天在新校舍 White Plains High School 成功举行了开学前的教师培训。会上马立平教研组的黄岳老师向大家介绍了马立平教材及教学经验。美洲华语教研组的林宇老师做了如何教好美洲华语教材的精彩报告。有两位老师代表标准中文教研组发了言：新加盟华夏的九年级常秀老师介绍了如何针对学生特点设计教案来激发学生学习兴趣进而提高学习效果；八年级的陈敏老师介绍了关于高年级中文教学改革的若干尝试，并向老师们介绍了纽约州教师新执照考试要求和相关孔子学院教师培训。一些感兴趣的家长也旁听了老师们的精彩报告。

紧接着教师培训是open house. 优秀的教师队伍，全新的教学理念，团结合作的管理团队加上美丽的校舍吸引了很多家长和孩子。前来参加的家长孩子络绎不绝。优雅的环境，整洁明亮的教室，宽阔的回廊，数个足球场，十二个网球场地，宽敞的运动馆，二十五码游泳池，所有这些，都令家长们赞不绝口。而教师团的专业水准和敬业精神最今人印象深刻，参加培训的老师们几乎全部叁与了家长的接待工作，中文课老师以教研组为单位详细耐心地回答了家长的问题。文化课老师也根据自己的专长向家长们介绍了课程设置及教学内容。为了方便家长，我们还开通了现场注册，受到家长的欢迎，现场报名踊跃。open house 到三点钟才全部结束，比预定时间长了一小时。在四个多小时的时间里，几百位老师、家长、学生聚集一堂，比较各种教材的优缺点，交換学习教授中文的心得，了解文化课程的内容，探讨新学年，新校园的各种文体活动，许多家长还提出了极富建设性的建议。完善的设施，结合专业的团队，加之积极叁与的家长，共同造就了open house 现场热烈的气氛，在新的一年里，也将构筑起一座进取、成功的新学校。

Hua Xia Greater New York Chinese School had a successful open house today at White Plains High School. More than two hundred parents came to talk to the teachers and to check out the facilities. The enthusiasm and optimism about the new school filled the air. Some parents commented: “So glad to see that everyone is so focused on kids’ education”, “I am really impressed by the teachers’ dedication and everyone’s enthusiasm.” Many families registered onsite. The open house was extended to 3pm. We whole heartedly thank our teachers for their dedication. They gave so much of their time to interact and provide guidance/information to parents that many did not have time for a proper lunch. Gratitude also goes to many volunteers who led the campus tours. We thank the support of parents and look forward to an exciting new school year. Stay tuned for 1st day of school details.

OPEN HOUSE: 11am – 2pm

校委会和家长会的志愿者会组织参观教室，体育设施。

实地考察(9:00am-11:00am教师培训), 到时您可以参观教室、休息区、GYM (two basketball courts for 篮球、排球、羽毛球）、游泳池、足球场、网球场等设施, 并由任课老师和Admin/PTA团队成员解答您的问题。Open House接受现场注册。我校师生可专用B楼侧门进出，直达家长休息区。HXGNY将使用B楼的全部教室和C楼的部分教室，各楼之间均由室内通道连接，雨雪天气亦通行无虞（See Map)。

中文老师解答家长们对于“马立平”，“美洲华语” 和“标准中文”的相关问题。
文体课的老师们介绍这学年开办的文体课如Lego Robotics， Cartoon， Origami， Drawing等。

我们的教师培训将于9月1日上午9点开始，我们也欢迎有兴趣的家长观摩我们的教师培训。有不少学《标准中文》的学生到了高年级，由于课文难度提高，加上自身学业负担加重，渐渐感到学习《标准中文》力不从心。有的学生只好选择辍学，为此，我们将在教师培训期间，邀请优秀的中文老师现场讲述他/她们如何搞活课堂教学气氛，调动学生的学习热情。在教师培训期间，还将有教师介绍关于HXGNY高年级（G5-G9)中文课堂教学改革的思路，为高年级中文教师的备课提供参考。主要内容有：（1）在生字/生词的筛选方面如何与HSK4/5接轨；（2）在词汇，语法，和写作练习方面，如何博采《标准中文》，《美洲华语》和《马立平中文》的精华；（3）在泛读方面，如何根据不同年龄孩子的兴趣和特点，引导学生阅读一些中国青少年喜爱的中外系列故事书，等等。总而言之，就是要想尽办法，调动学生的学习热情和提高他们的学习效率。
