Teacher Training Recap:本学年第二次教师培训会于上周日（9月23日）下午12:30-3:30在Cafeteria举行。李谦云、林宇、焦世强三位教师作了专题报告。李谦云老师总结自己多年华夏教学实践介绍了如何根据儿童心理特点来维护良好的课堂秩序。林宇老师以《我对香烟过敏》一课为例向老师们做了一次生动的美洲华语示范课。焦世强老师则生动形象地演示了如何教授五年级马立平中文。三位老师的报告都非常精彩。除了教师专题报告外，黄岳副校长展望了教学改革的中期方向。林骏校长介绍了学生写作能力评估体系建立的一些设想。包雷向老师们演示了如何自主管理网页，在网上和家长交流及发布作业信息。Parking Lot Change This Sunday:

Per WPHS request, we are to use Parking Lot A this Sunday. Please see map here. Please follow security team’s road sign and use the main entrance to enter the school. Parents should come to school earlier to accomodate longer walking distances to classrooms from Parking Lot A.

Adult Class lists and location:

Below are adult culture classes that will open this Sunday. Any class that does not have sufficient enrollment after two weeks will be cancelled. If you or you know someone who is interested in your class, please register as soon as possible. For classes that are assigned “Hall” location, please meet your teacher in the H-room first and the teacher will take all students to the desired location in the hall way. If you have a classroom assigned, you can go to the classroom directly after registering at the registration desk. Mid-Autumn Festival Update (Oct. 7)： The Mid-autumn welcome party will be held at White Plains High School on Oct. 7 from 12:30 to 3:30PM. Lunch will be provided (12:30-1:30pm), followed by performance (1:00-3:00pm). Tickets ($6 per person) will be sold on this Sunday.

2012 Huaxia Mindsports Application Deadline Oct. 5:

Kid Play Corner (H-Room):

The school reserves a play corner for the babies/kids who do not attend any class and their mothers. Any interested mother is welcome to bring her baby/kid and toys to the corner. The location is H-room.

We are calling for editors, correspondents to HXGNY Student Corner – 小语世界. Please send your application to hxgnyadmin@googlegroups.com.

Here are the open positions:
1. Editor-in-Chief: 要求: 有丰富的编辑工作经验, 有较高的文字编辑能力和沟通能力，善于领导与管理团队, 善于独立工作。要求在HXGNY G9或中文AP在读, 或者刚毕业于HXNY, 仍担任TA工作。申请者须提交一份短文 (中英文俱可), 说明对这份工作的设想；一份五百字以内独立完成的中文作文, 提供两个推荐人信息。

2. Editors: 对主编负责, 根据选题征集稿源, 完成稿件的编辑工作, 在规定期限前提交给主编。要求：喜欢中文写作，有一定的文字编辑能力，能够在截稿期之前完成工作, 有较好的沟通能力。要求在HXGNY G6或以上在读(含中文AP) , 或者刚毕业于HXNY, 仍担任TA工作。申请者须提交一份短文(中英文俱可), 说明为什么胜任这份工作; 一份五百字以内独立完成的中文作文. 如有可能，请附上中文老师的推荐意见。

Sports Facilities and Sports Club News:Sports Facility:Test Run: South GYM (with Badminton line) and North GYM will be both open on 9/30.

Per WPHS request, please do not keep any gym exit doors open throughout school sessions. Use only the door designated for HXGNY for entrance.

2012第一届HXGNY俱乐部杯网球公开赛

为丰富家长的业余生活增加家长之间的紧密联系，HXGNY Tennis Club将于10月21日举办第一届HXGNY俱乐部杯网球公开赛。公开赛报名已经开始，希望广大网球爱好者积极参与。报名请将姓名和联系方式Email给hao.li@einstein.yu.edu，截止日期为10月18日。本届公开赛将在White Plains高中网球场进行，9:30 AM开始，12:15 PM结束。具体比赛规则和赛程安排将随后公布。

PTA News:Class Parents Meeting Recap：On 09/23, PTA organized all class parents meeting to discuss on-going school activities and issues. Class parents from most classes, Principal Lin Jun, PTA chair Yao Dachun, Board Chair Hu Dapeng, and other PTA members attended the meeting. The meeting discussed school POD, class parents responsibilities and income PTA events including mid-autumn party and mindsports. Principal Lin Jun introduced future plans of class setting, education reform and how to retain children’s interest in learning chinese. Parents raised various questions and suggestions on school operations such as POD procedures, mid-autumn party/volunteering logistics, class assignment rules, class transferring restrictions, CSL classes, community building etc.

Reminder to parents: All parents who transferred their kids to different Classes please notify both teachers (transferred from and to) AND the registration teamregistration@hxgny.org.

Please do not stay around the classrooms. It is distracting to teachers and students alike.

OCA Student Leadership Awards Application Deadline Oct. 5th

The Organization of Chinese Americans’ Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter (OCA-WHV) will be sponsoring its 2012 Student Leadership Award. In the past, many of the Huaxia graduates have been honored for the award and OCA-WHV hopes there will be more local outstanding high school students applying this year. PCE Annual Conference Oct. 13

9th Chinese-American Parenting Practice Parenting Annual Conference (CAP2012) organized by the Parents and Children Education (PCE) Club in collaboration with QiaoBao newspaper《侨报》, will be held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel (2055 Lincoln Highway (RT 27), Edison, NJ) on Saturday, October 13, 2012 (12:00pm – 5:00pm). The theme is “The Art of Communicating with Children – How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk”. Please click here for more information.

Also there should be invitations from your teaching class asking you to join the group, please accept the invitation. Later on we will promote you to the admin of your class group. We have added most of your student’s parent logins into your class group, so you guys can have private conversation within that group. Yes, all the content within your group, includes Forum topics/reples/comments will not be view-able by any user outside your group. Please verify the list with the actual list who is really in you class, either remove student parent from the group or add new ones.
