They will introduce Board and Administration team members, update parents on status of our school operations, and share their vision on education reform, faculty development and much more. Starting from 09/15, unpaid students for language classes need to have the payment status cleared before attending classes.
Fees for certain cultural classes will be collected on Week 3 (Sunday 09/22). Registration team will communicate with parents via email about method of payment.

HXGNY Mid-Autumn Festival Party
Dear HXGNY families, you are all cordially invited to the Mid-Autumn Festival party on September 22, at Croton Point Park from 12:30 PM to 4 PM. We will provide lunch, drink plus moon cakes for everyone.
The Croton Point park has a big pavilion with tables (rain or shine, it is a perfect location). There are some performances, lots of fun activities for the kids, as well as playground close by. Please bring blankets to sit on during picnic. It will be a great opportunity to meet new friends and catch up with old friends, relax and enjoy the afternoon.
Tickets:
Please purchase actual event/lunch tickets in the White Plain High School cafeteria on Sunday 9/15/13, between 9:30AM till 12:30PM. Or you can purchase ticket online at http://www.hxgny.org/wp/
Please print out a copy of your online purchase receipt to school to exchange for lunch ticket and the BBQ.
The price of the tickets will cover the reservation fees for the park and parking fees, as well as all the food and drinks for everyone. We will prepare sufficient food and drinks for everyone based on the actual tickets sale.
If you purchase the tickets before 9/16, the prices are $8 for adults and seniors, $5 for kid 5 and above, and kids age 0-4 are free.
If you purchase the tickets on 9/22 (the day of the event), the prices will be $10 per adult ticket.

When you enter the park, please inform the guard that you are with the group reservation since school will cover the parking fee so you do not have to pay the additional $5 fee.

HXGNY dancing team is honored to be invited to perform at Mets Baseball Pre-game show – An Evening of Chinese Culture& Middle Autumn Festival, at Cifi Field, NY, on 9/13. All the HXGNY families are welcomed to attend this great event and celebrate Middle Autumn together. We will cheer for our own school performers , enjoy the Chinese Culture show and watch baseball game afterward. Report on this event on Singtao Daily see here. The badminton and basketball teams play in the gym at the lower level in the back of C Wing. A fee will be charged for using the gym. The soccer team usually plays outside behind the building. The tennis courts are down the stairs at the end of the road in front of the main entrance to the building. All parents are welcome to join our sports teams. Please email to the team to request to join. For those without a google ID to request to join the groups, please enter the following in your browser’s address bar and replace GroupName by our group name such as soccer_hxgny:

2013 2nd HXGNY Club Cup Tennis Open Tournament
HXGNY Tennis Club will host the 2nd HXGNY Club Cup Tennis Open Tournament starting on October 6th, 2013 at White Plains High School. The tournament features Men and Women’s singles. Regular matches and play-offs will be played on Oct 6th and Oct 13th, the finals will be on Oct 20th. The registration is open now and will be closed on Oct 3rd. Community News: 2013 OCA Student Leadership Award Announcement
Dear Superintendent and Principal:
The award is open to all high school students in their junior and senior years. Up to three awardees will be selected by a committee appointed by the OCA-WHV board. The awardees will be honored at our annual Dynamic Achievers Award Banquet on November 02, 2013, at the Double Tree Hotel in Tarrytown, alongside with four adult outstanding Asian American leaders from the greater New York area.
We would appreciate that you encourage your students to apply for this award, and nominate the deserving applicants for our consideration. The details on the award and the application and selection process are attached here for your information. HXGNY admin team is in the final phase of preparation work for the new school year starting 09/08. This year, our number of registered students have surpassed 400. This great accomplishment is a result of the collective effort from our teachers, parents, and volunteers. To avoid over-sized classes and to ensure delivery of high quality education to your children, the school is adding an additional class to each grade from PreK to 4th grade. To keep balanced class size, the school is making minor adjustment on students’ class assignment based mainly on class of choice at registration and the registration date. Next week, teachers from each class will be in touch with the parents. The school will also publish school opening day information such as classroom assignment, etc. Please check your email or visit our web site at 
On Sunday 8/25, our school faculty attended an orientation and training event to prepare for the new school year. New teachers were warmly welcomed by the existing faculty. It was exciting to see the talents that filled the room! In addition to getting informed of school policies, teachers heard Principal Dr. Lin’s presentation on the importance and execution strategies of incorporating assessment tools to help achieving education goals. Yun Fu, Jin Sheng and Yu Lin shared their experiences teaching MLP or MZHY. Yue Huang shared her appreciation of both textbook systems. At group discussions, everybody got a chance to exchange ideas and worked on the teaching plans together. Some new parents stopped by to ask questions and/or register their children. Many admin and board members came to help out to make it such a successful day! They also brought in delicious pastries and moon cakes for the teachers. Click 
During the summer break, our school’s soccer team played Huaxia Cup with ten other teams, and advanced into the playoff round. The 32 members of our team came from New York and Connecticut. Compared with other teams, we had the longest commute and tightest schedule. Some members had to drive more than two hours before the game, and the team sometimes played three matches in a hot summer day. Despite all the difficulties, through collaborative effort, the team entered playoff. Kudos to all the team members for their great sportsmanship.
