上周日2013年5月5日，倍受欢迎的”北美崔哥”来到了位于纽约上州的华夏大纽约中文学校，并献上了精彩的脱口秀表演。北美崔哥本名崔宝印，是一位美式脱口秀笑星。他是地道的北京人，北大英语专业，在美国西雅图大学读过法律，曾经为比尔盖茨，波音总裁，星巴克总裁作过同声翻译，并于2006年为胡锦涛总书记访美担任美方翻译。崔哥的这次光临给我们带来了很多惊喜。来自大纽约地区包括纽约，康州和新泽西州的很多华人慕名参加了这次盛会。崔哥当天以他的招牌式白草帽亮相，显得草根味十足，让人倍感亲切。上午的表演在悦耳的歌声中拉开序幕，在随后的演出里，崔哥生动活泼地介绍了他创办脱口秀的心路里程，以及对当下时局的诸多看法与感受，他的幽默和诙谐征服了观众，赢得了阵阵掌声。中场休息期间，我校拉丁舞老师Mayte Vicens 表演了精彩的独舞-弗拉门戈，舞蹈队表演了由资深老师苏红编导的歌舞-最炫民族风。午休后，崔哥跟学校的各位老师欢聚一堂。崔哥一改以前在舞台上的居高临下，而是很随意的坐在大圆桌上， 并邀请大家靠近团团围坐，跟大家一起聊家常。 崔哥妙语如珠，笑话连篇，令人捧腹。崔哥鼓励大家在生活中要更阳光，更幽默，对别人多一些宽容和理解…崔哥擅长讲一些中英对译的玩笑，这很能赢得海外游子的共鸣和喝彩。他的英文发音纯正而流利，为他赢得了不少老外的笑声。总之，他的表演不拘一格，灵活多变，雅俗共赏。在我们看来，崔哥不仅是演员，更是推进中美文化交流的使者。作为当地最大的中文学校，我校一方面致力于提供最高质量的中文教学，同时也特别注重积极参与当地华人社区的建设与沟通，为丰富华人家庭文化活动而尽力。我们期待崔哥的再一次光临。请点击这里查看照片。请点击查看侨报以及波士顿华人双语网对这次演出的报道。

Brother Sway Brings a Day of Laughter to HXGNY

On May 5th,2013, Brother Sway，the well-known Chinese talk show star, visited our school and gave the most brilliant of performances. The event attracted many families from Greater New York area, including New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Local singers warmed up the audiences with a sweet song. In the morning show, Brother Sway delivered numerous hilarious jokes. His  humor and satire won many new fans and was frequently interrupted by enthusiastic applause. During the intermission, the school Latin Dance teacher and professional Latin dancer Ms. Mayte Vicens performed a dazzling solo dance:Sevillanas. HXGNY Dance Team also showcased a brilliant dance choreographed by our popular teacher Ms. Hong Su. After the lunch break, Brother Sway entertained the HXGNY school teachers.  Once again, his performance won him applause all around.  As the largest Chinese school in the area, HXGNY is dedicated to provide the best Chinese education. The school also strives to build local Chinese community. 祝贺我校九年级毕业班学生在2013年华夏总校HSK四级毕业考试中获得优异成绩！

一年一度的华夏总校HSK四级毕业考试成绩最近揭晓。我校九年级毕业生全部通过这一国家级汉语水平考试，并取得优异成绩。我校平均分数是270 （满分为300分，整个华夏系统平均成绩为248分）。我们在此向所有九年级毕业生和毕业生家长表示热烈祝贺！这个成绩与历届教师为他们打下的扎实基础是分不开的。我们尤其感谢九年级毕业班老师一年来的不懈努力和富有成效的教学方法，以及家长们的积极配合，为毕业生能在冲刺阶段取得优异成绩作出贡献。

2013华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示通知 (HXGNY 2013 Future Star Talent Show Announcement):

为宏扬中国文化, 鼓励华夏学生学习中文的积极性，培养舞台表演能力, 华夏中文学校大纽约分校将于2013年5月19日12:30PM- 3PM举行《2013华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示》。本次活动邀请所有同学参加。参赛规则：个人表演不超过2分钟；集体(2人以上)的才艺展现不超过5分钟。每人最多可上台表演两次. 表演形式: 戏剧，唱歌，朗诵、讲故事、 说绕口令或美国学校常用的Show & Tell, 乐器(不包括钢琴,表演以中国传统曲目为主). 报名请email:zhoufamily99@yahoo.com. 请注明学生姓名，节目内容及形式。报名费每个学生＄５(含午餐). 报名费将在5/19/2013午餐时 收取. 报名截止日期2013年5月10日.

To promote Chinese culture, provide more opportunities for our students to practice speech and enrich stage performance experiences, HXGNY will host “2013 HXGNY Future Star Talent Show” on 5/19/2013 between 12:30PM to 3PM. The Talent Show is open to all students in HXGNY. A variety of performances, such as poem recital, singing, storytelling, tongue twister, show & tell, music instruments (with the exception of piano, Chinese music is highly encouraged) would all be welcome. The stage time is limited to 2 minutes for individual participant and 5 minutes for group participants. Each students can perform twice at maximum.  Please emailzhoufamily99@yahoo.com for registration. Registration fee is $5 per student (include lunch). Registration fee will be collected during lunch time on 5/19/2013. Deadline for registration is 5/10/2013.

家庭教育讲座和学生返校交流会：在美国读中学、家庭敎育的影响以及如何准备大学升学等经验交流:

由《我在美国读高中——哈佛女孩刘婷娜成长手册》的作者刘婷娜(刘婷娜是纽约华夏中文学校2006 年毕业生)和她的父亲刘力明博士(对中美两国的教育体系和方式钻研多年,美国莱思常春藤教育机构的创办人)分享在美国读中学、家庭敎育的影响以及如何准备大学升学等经验。家庭教育讲座将由两部分组成：

第一部分：由刘婷娜从学生的角度介绍她在美国高中学习和成长的过程，内容包括：1.Preparing for College: What are Your Goals； What to do to achieve your goals； How to do to reach your goals；My approach to high school：Academic (GPA, National Standard Exams, Academic achievements and Awards), Science Research (Science Research Awards), Extracurricular / Leadership, Art / Music / Poetry, Community Service / Work Experience。 2. College application is art.

第二部分：刘力明博士从家长和教育顾问的角度介绍如何规划让孩子在美国读名牌大学以及行动步骤和申请过程，内容包括：为什么很多中国父母都想让孩子进名牌大学？上名牌大学有哪些好处和不好处？如果家长想让孩子上名牌大学，孩子也想上名牌大学，家长能起哪些作用？名牌大学的入学要求和标准是什么？名牌大学的招生人员注重什么？ 如何在中小学阶段培养孩子各方面的能力? 如何在中小学阶段培养孩子的综合素质? 如何在中小学阶段帮助孩子达到甚至超过名牌大学的入学要求和标准? 如何帮助孩子准备大学申请资料等等。家庭教育讲座结束后会有常见问题解答。希望家长们，爷爷奶奶们和 学生们积极参加。从12:30-1:30pm，刘婷娜与在校学生进行互动交流，

校长林骏博士和家长会长姚大纯博士于4/28/2013召集了全校家长大会。大会开始之前，介绍我校2012-2013学年活动的录像 《华夏大纽约欢迎您》的播放吸引了到会家长们的注意。学校领导给家长们介绍了下一学年学校的领导结构和注册信息。以下是会议摘要：

  • 董事长胡大鹏博士介绍了董事会本着稳定，高效, 创新的原则，对今后学校的领导结构的一些初步安排。

Ø  学校实行董事会领导下的校长负责制。

Ø  校长任期两年。

Ø  为促进合作提高效率，家长会提出和校委会合并的建议，得到董事会赞同。合并后在校委会设置执行副校长负责家长服务，社区建设，并辅助校长协调各部门之间合作。

Ø  鼓励创新, 新人进入领导团队。董事会成员任期三年, 到期后不能立即连任; 现任的所有董事会成员会分别在今年明年和后年卸任，这样保证每年约有三分之一的新人加入董事会。

胡大鹏博士很高兴地向大家宣布，经过讨论并征求校委会家长会老师和家长们的意见，董事会全票通过任命林骏博士继续担任明年的校长。同时由林骏提名经董事会全票通过，任命曹作军博士为执行副校长。请点击这里查看林骏博士和曹作军博士的简历。

  • 家长会长姚大纯博士作了简短的发言。他代表家长会表达了对学校新的领导结构的全力支持，并由衷地对林骏和曹作军表示祝贺和敬意。

  • 董事尹永义博士给大家汇报了教学委员会的工作并作了教学信息反馈分析。他介绍了学校开设的课程安排，并宣布学校将在May 19th and June 2nd组织选课指南讲座。
  • 副校长吴莉华博士介绍了下一学年的学校注册系统。五月底之前会开通有Paypal支付功能的注册系统。注册细则将于开通前及时公布。
  • 教务长张明宝博士告诉大家绝大多数老师将在2013-2014 学年继续留任我校。
  • 新任命的2013-2014执行副校长曹作军博士代表校领导感谢广大志愿者的无私奉献。他呼吁家长们积极参与学校的各项事务并欢迎志愿者加入学校的领导团队。请填写志愿者报名表。

Board of Directors Announcement

Dr. Jun Lin and Dr. Zuojun Cao Will Lead the School as Principal and Executive Vice Principal, Respectively, in Year 2013 – 2014 

The Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Dr Jun Lin, the current Principal, to continue lead the school as Principal in year 2013 – 2014. Dr Lin has served the school since 2011, as Associate Dean in the former HXNY and as Principal of HXGNY in 2012-2013. Under Jun’s leadership and with the support of many volunteers, the new school has run very successfully since its establishment.

Dr. Lin presented a modified school administration organization structure and it was approved by the board. The board also approved Dr. Lin’s nomination of Dr. Zuojun Cao as Executive Vice Principal for school year 2013 – 2014. Dr. Cao has served the school since 2011 as Vice Chairman of Parent Council and Chief POD.

The board highly appreciates Dr. Lin and Dr. Cao for their willingness to continue serving the school. We thank all the volunteers for their hard work in serving the school and our community.

The well-known talk show star, Brother Sway, will visit Huaxia Chinese School Greater New York (HXGNY) this Sunday, and offer us the most brilliant of performances. Brother Sway, whose real name is Cui Baoyin, is an Chinese-American stand-up comedian. Born in Beijing, he was a graduate of Beijing University with an English major, and studied law at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has been the simultaneous interpreter for Bill Gates, the Boeing and Starbucks CEOs. He was also the English translator for Hu Jingtao, during his state visit to the United States in 2006. Brother Sway created the “America Cui Brother Talk Show” in 2009. His main works include: “Do Not Come to US” and “Never Marry a Foreigner,” etc. Brother Sway’s performances earned him fans all over the world, and he is especially popular in North America. We believe the visit of Brother Sway will give us a pleasant surprise.

In addition, during the break, our beloved Latin Dance teacher Ms.Mayte Vicens will perform a solo dance: Sevillanas. HXGNY Dance Team will also showcase a dance choreographed by our popular dance teacher Hong Su。

Safety Reminder:

Please don’t drop off/pick up between the North Street entrance and parking lot entrance.  You can drive further ahead for drop off/pick up. Otherwise you will block the traffic.

Please do not park in the circle area when the parking spots on your right are full.  This area is reserved for fire department.  You may exit and use the parking lot facing North Street or Parking Lot A at the north side of the buildings.
Gyms News:Please Note: the SOUTH GYM is not available on5/5/2013 due to setup for AP exams by WPHS.Please plan accordingly.

Per WPHS request, please do not keep any gym exit doors open throughout school sessions. Use only the door designated for HXGNY for entrance.

Ivy Bound / Rising Stars offers Huaxia families one week summer “camps” for 6-14 year olds in：
Robotics, Speedy Reading, Gymnastics, Astronomy, Beginning Guitar, Mathetarium, Fun Science, Entrepreneurship 101
and Latin & Vocabulary.
Our instructors are accomplished effervescent college, grad-school, and young post-grad school teachers. We come to your home or a community center. Your getting a group of 4 – 9 students allows us to to teach on YOUR desired schedule any week of the summer. We typically run 5 mornings or 5 afternoons for each class from late June until August 30.
Huaxia families now have a $100 discount for all camps. Pricing is thus $250, $350, or $450 depending on the topic. Students with a sibling taking the same class have an additional 20% discount. For older students needing SAT Prep, Ivy Bound offers Huaxia families the same discount on SAT classes or private SAT tutoring. Pleasewww.ivybound.net for all offerings. 为宏扬中国文化, 鼓励华夏学生学习中文的积极性，培养舞台表演能力, 华夏中文学校大纽约分校将于2013年5月19日12:30PM- 3PM举行《2013华夏大纽约明日之星才艺大展示》。本次活动邀请所有同学参加。参赛规则：个人表演不超过2分钟；集体(2人以上)的才艺展现不超过5分钟。每人最多可上台表演两次. 表演形式: 戏剧，唱歌，朗诵、讲故事、 说绕口令或美国学校常用的Show & Tell, 乐器(不包括钢琴,表演以中国传统曲目为主). 报名请email:zhoufamily99@yahoo.com. 请注明学生姓名，节目内容及形式。报名费每个学生＄５(含午餐). 报名费将在5/19/2013午餐时 收取. 报名截止日期2013年5月10日.

To promote Chinese culture, provide more opportunities for our students to practice speech and enrich stage performance experiences, HXGNY will host “2013 HXGNY Future Star Talent Show” on 5/19/2013 between 12:30PM to 3PM. The Talent Show is open to all students in HXGNY. A variety of performances, such as poem recital, singing, storytelling, tongue twister, show & tell, music instruments (with the exception of piano, Chinese music is highly encouraged) would all be welcome. The stage time is limited to 2 minutes for individual participant and 5 minutes for group participants. Each students can perform twice at maximum.  Please emailzhoufamily99@yahoo.com for registration. Registration fee is $5 per student (include lunch). Registration fee will be collected during lunch time on 5/19/2013. Deadline for registration is 5/10/2013.

大纽约华夏中文学校教学信息反馈分析:

2012-13学年，2012-13学年，大纽约华夏中文学校共有340多名学生(约二百三十个家庭)。这次学校的教学信息反馈调查总共收到70份学生家长填写的反馈表， 占总家庭数约30%。教育委员会的评估小组对教学信息反馈表作了一定的分析和研究。提交这70份反馈表的家长的孩子集中在幼儿/学前班，1-3年级马立平班和5-9年级美洲华语/标准中文班。在收回的70份反馈表中，针对中文教材问题，绝大多数学前/幼儿班、1-3年级马立平班和5-9年级美洲华语/标准中文班的学生家长满意或者非常满意HXGNY现在所使用的中文教材， 并认为教材的难度 适中。与往年比较，家长们普遍认为自己的小孩对学中文的兴趣增加或继续保持(图4)。绝大多数的家长也希望自己的孩子在下一学年继续使用相同的中文教材。

关于教材对孩子能力的影响， 超过一半家长认为目前的教材对听（54%）和读（70%）有很大帮助，认为目前的教材对说和写的帮助很大或一般的各占近一半。总体来说，家长们对HXGNY目前的教学状况基本持满意态度(83%满意，13%一般，其余未回答)。我们也注意到，在收回的70份反馈表，低年级（1-4年级）美洲华语和高年级（4-6年级）马立平班的家长反馈信息不足。因此，我们还将继续倾听家长们对低年级（1-4年级）美洲华语教材和高年级马立平教材的反馈意见。请点击查看详细的教学信息反馈分析.

为了更多地听取家长，老师和学生们的意见，以便继续改进我们今后的教学工作，教育委员会在H-room的办公室旁设立一个“教学意见箱”。希望大家对进一步提高学校的教学和管理工作提出您的宝贵意见。

The well-known talk show star, Brother Sway, will visit Huaxia Chinese School Greater New York (HXGNY) on May 5, 2013, and offer us the most brilliant of performances. Brother Sway, whose real name is Cui Baoyin, is an Chinese-American stand-up comedian. Born in Beijing, he was a graduate of Beijing University with an English major, and studied law at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has been the simultaneous interpreter for Bill Gates, the Boeing and Starbucks CEOs. He was also the English translator for Hu Jingtao, during his state visit to the United States in 2006. Brother Sway created the “America Cui Brother Talk Show” in 2009. His main works include: “Do Not Come to US” and “Never Marry a Foreigner,” etc. Brother Sway’s performances earned him fans all over the world, and he is especially popular in North America. We believe the visit of Brother Sway will give us a pleasant surprise. In addition, during the break, we will arrange a wonderful show for you. Please do not miss this opportunity. Recap： 上周日华夏总校北区辩论比赛(HuaXia Chinese School Northern Division Debate Contest Last Sunday):

辩论， 不仅是语言的艺术， 更是思维的艺术。 辩论赛是对于学生运用中文语言能力和思辩能力在短时间内的集中训练。在刚刚落幕的华夏辩论赛中， 北区共有六所学校参加， 共12支代表队。我校同学取得了优异的成绩。在4-6年级组， 我校同学以绝对优势， 大比分领先获得第一名。我校正方队员徐翰扬，孟 源, 陆尔希, 反方队员吴奕康, 颜睿奇, 吴宗书获得一等奖。徐翰扬和吴奕康同学获得最佳辩手。在7-9年级组，我校正方队员王弈都，杨凯琳, 郑芷兰,反方队员林伊茗, 王银银, 陈恩璐获得三等奖, 林伊茗同学获得最佳辩手.
