Recap Mid-Autumn Festival Party:
明 月照华夏，金风传友情。 这是十月七日大纽约华夏中秋联欢会的主题，也是这一盛会的写照。新朋旧友，在新的校园济济一堂，共庆佳节。在聚餐会上，四百余男女老少或与友邻把话叙旧， 或同家人共享午餐，或徜徉于近百条灯谜前领略着精神食粮的魅力，熙熙攘攘的人群，处处洋溢着节日的热闹。一点三十分，两位年轻主持人专业水准的开幕词拉开 了舞台演出的序幕，中国传统乐器，西洋乐器，交相奏响；绚烂亮丽的音乐舞蹈剧，热情奔放的队列舞，各呈异彩；孩子的小合唱，成人的四重唱，此起彼伏；短洁 的三句半，高亢的诗朗诵，各具千秋；童声稚气的儿歌，刚武矫健的武术，并茂齐秀。少儿的静夜思，爷爷奶奶的夕阳红，更是烘托着老少同堂，阖家欢乐的节日气氛。 大家相聚在华夏，大家祝福在中秋。让我们感谢所有志愿者所做出的努力，让我们共同祝愿年年有今日，岁岁有今朝。请点击这里浏览联欢会照片。
On October 7, 2012, Huaxia Chinese School at Greater New York held a spectacular mid-autumn celebration party. Friends, old or new, all gathered on the new campus to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the day symbolizing harmony and reunion. During lunch time, over four hundred people sat together with families, greeted friends nearby. Many walked along the one-hundred-riddle corridors to enjoy the pleasure and challenge embedded in this Chinese cultural tradition. Children were excited when they solved riddles and got prizes. At 1:30pm, two young hosts, with their professional opening statement, announced the start of the stage performance. In the next one hour and half, with the accompanying Chinese and Western instruments, the captivating musical, the energetic line dancing, the concise three sentences plus half, the eloquent poem recital, the lively Rhymes from kindergarteners and the sentimental ballads from the grandparents, fifteen programs constituted fifteen chapters of a holiday symphony. Office, Sign In and Information Desk Location Updates:
The office located in B227 will be used for copying, printing and for lost and found items. Teachers may pick up equipment there too.
Teachers, TAs and PODs please go to H-room to sign in. Unless for ticket sale, Information Desk will be in H-room. Master POD will stay in H-Room to address questions.
A white bulletin board will be placed at the entrance for most updated school information.
Class Updates:
Adult Yoga Classes are cancelled this Sunday. The teacher has a schedule conflict. The classes will be made up during the 2nd week of the Spring semester. We will send out a reminder then.
Potential New Pre-K Class: We are planning to open a third pre-k class due to high demand. Interested parents should contact Linda Wu at wu_lihua@yahoo.com for registration.
成人美术课 (Classroom B212): 老师黎江，中国美术学院设计艺术学院本科，擅长素描、色彩、速写、水粉、国画。参与世博会城市生命馆方案设计，编辑书籍《创意·品牌·财富》和《美美与共——中国美术学院与杭州美丽城市共建成果集》， 发表论文《创意城市 创新会展》。成人美术课介绍请点击这里。欢迎大家在 reg.hxgny.org 报名。
成人声乐课、声乐课大班继续招生(Classroom B228)： 在日前举办的中秋联欢会上,明明老师指导的节目取得了巨大的成功。任教老师明明先后毕业于中国沈阳音乐学院，上海音乐学院及法国巴黎音乐师范学院。曾任教于沈阳音乐学院九年。来美后从事音乐教学及创作。近年来，创作了大量儿童题材的歌曲和两部儿童歌舞剧。其中《小书包》，《三字经》，《静夜思》和《猜谜歌》等已被演唱，深受大家的喜爱，而儿童歌舞剧《空花盆》也正在排演中。在2012年南康州华人教育协会的新春联欢会上，演出了明明根据安徒生童话改编的小型歌舞《卖火柴的小女孩》，受到观众的一致好评。详细介绍请看: http://www.hxgny.org/wp/archives/476。 欢迎大家在 reg.hxgny.org 报名。
成人民族舞班Adult Folk Dance Club: Still open for registration. 指导老师曾渭莛：中国传媒大学南广学院本科，布里奇波特大学国际关系硕士。从4岁开始学习民族舞，小学中学阶段一直任学校舞蹈队成员，初中三年级和高中二年级任校舞蹈队队长，分别带队学校舞蹈队获成都市初中集体舞大赛一等奖和成都市高中集体舞大赛二等奖。２００６年夏天在四川电视台一级设防节目任电视编导。２００７年夏天在四川电视台联播四川节目任电视编导。２００８年夏天在上海东方电视台任大型纪录片《中国电视文艺五十年》文艺编导。２０１０年和２０１１年任布里奇波特大学春节晚会导演。参与２０１１年２０１２年国际学生节舞蹈表演分别获得三等奖和二等奖。擅长舞蹈类型：民族舞：藏族舞，汉族舞，彝族舞。

教育升学讲座:
这个星期天将有一个家庭教育讲座，由家庭教育专著《哈佛两姐妹—素质教育与智力开发家庭教育全记录》的作者汪小武博士和胡琳夫妇分享家庭敎育和大学升学的经验。
汪小武、胡琳夫妇在中国长大，在美国有近30年的生活经历，亲身体会了中美两国敎育体制、方法和理念的差异。在以中美文化的精华培养孩子的理念下，他们充分发挥自己的优势，利用两种文化的特点，汲取两种文化的精华，开发出了一套家庭敎育措施。这套措施在他们培养两个女儿的过程中得到了反覆的验证，并且在其它一些家庭的孩子身上也得到映证。

2012-2013 School Directory Cover Design Contest:
Any artwork submitted must be student’s original design and creation, conceptualized and executed solely by the student. Submitted pieces must not have been published previously and may not be subject to the rights of any other party.
Two winners will be selected from all participating students by a group of judges. The winners’ artwork will be printed on the cover and bottom page of 2012-2013 Huaxia Chinese School of Great New York Communication Directory.
Please refer to the following requirements to start your design.
> Paper Size: 8.5” x 11” (letter size)
> Picture Dimension: 7.5” (W) x 9” (L) in portrait mode
> Color: black and white (shading is accepted)
> Print your name and class on the back of your design
> Submit your final artwork to the Information Desk by 10/28/2012
Education Excellence Committee:
Our school is in the process of forming an Education Excellence Committee (abbreviated as Education Committee) to assist our school achieving the goal of providing high quality education. 给弟弟妹妹讲故事:
为 了进一步提高学生的口头表达能力，学校开展”给弟弟妹妹讲故事“的活动，4年级以上的同学，包括AP Chinese的同学都可以报名参加，时间为5分钟，学生在9：30到10：30到k 或prek给弟弟妹妹讲故事。有兴趣的同学可以和陈敏老师联系 (minchen05@gmail.com)。
美东地区第一届少年儿童中文写作大赛:
由 《侨报》、《侨报周末》和亚洲文化中心主办的“美东地区第一届少年儿童中文写作大赛”现接受报名。初赛和决赛得主将获得奖金和奖牌。本届大赛由美东华人社 团联合总会协办。大赛分为初赛和决赛。初赛设纽约、新泽西、费城、大华府、波士顿、芝加哥6个赛区。各赛区初赛结果将于10月揭晓。总决赛将于11月11 日在纽约曼哈顿中城举行。来美三年以上，年龄在6至14岁的中文学校学生或中文自学者均可参加比赛。大赛分为儿童组(6至8岁)、少儿组（9至11岁）、 少年组（12至14 岁）。比赛的作文命题分别是“我最尊敬的人”、“我的暑假生活”、“我爱我家”，参赛者可任选一题写一篇叙述文，儿童组200字；少儿组300字；少年组 400字。电脑打字或手写汉字，简体、繁体均可。手写汉字文稿适当加分。具体比赛公告点击这里。 点击这里下载报名表。
